Ryle 57 Glen Este 36

Featured Replies

Ryle drops in nine 3-pointers, 4 by sophmore Mitch McLeish and 3 by fellow sophmore Clay Coleman, to beat Glen Este an East Cincinnati school. McLeish finished with a game high 18 points.

Is the youth movement on at Ryle or was Glen Este that bad that Helmer, Maley, Ahern sat????

All of the above played ,but McLeish, Coleman, and Nichols all have been getting alot of minutes so far this year. Each one of these boys seems to be improving and getting more confident with each game.

None of them sat. Mailey was hurt on and off during the game, Helmer got his minutes, and Andy played quite a bit too. Ryle's best scorers, though, are the sophomores.

I know Ahern struggles alot handling the ball but seems to stay on the floor but Helmer is by far the best shooter IMO. Maley, well??????? great athlete but needs to focus on the game of basketball!!!!

Good to see Ryle drop some threes, but lets not get carried away with the youth movement. If my info. is correct Coleman was 2 for 20+ from 3 pt. range prior to Glen Este.Helmer had a bad night scoring but has been the most consistent scorer so far this year. The shophs. will get plenty of playing time this year, but will need to be as unselfish as the older guys to keep the chemistry they have had the last few games.

Mitch is Ryle's best shooter. He has struggled a little playing the point. He should be Shooting Guard but there is no one to relieve Ahern when he's tired. Helmer definitely can't do it, he turns the ball over way too much. If the sophomores step up, Ryle will be really deep. Bringing in Tate, Mitch, Clay, and Lamping off the bench if they continue to improve, could be the best bench in the 9th.

Mitch can't get the shot off like Helmer nor elevate with him. Helmer at the 2 and Mitch at the point would give Ryle boost on the scoreboard!!!!

Ryle will only get better as the season goes on. If the young guys continue to improve, they will be hard to handle come tournament time. Look for them to surprise some people.:fire:

Maybe I missed something, but where's the Russell kid in the box score for Ryle?

Is he hurt, or did he just fail to score?

I heard that he has left the team for personal reasons.

I think Mitch sees the floor better and is able to get the ball in down low better. Clay should have his shooting confidence back after this game.Tate has to be one of the stronger players on the post in the area. The only other player that I can think of that would be a physical challenge would be the kid from Dixie (Mace). They paired off back in the summer and it was fun to watch the 2 of them go at it. The weight room has done wonders.

Helmer is not as good of a basketball player as Mitch. Mitch is a better defender, on and definitely off the ball, and he also is a much better passer. Also, Mitch can create his own shot where Helmer cannot. I've see almost every game these two have played and I would take Mitch over Steve anyday.

I think both players are good. Helmer is much quicker in my opinion. He can also create his own shot and take the ball to the basket.

I think they are about equal as far as shooting ability.

Mitch is a better point guard than Ahern, his size lets him see the floor. Mitch will build confidence after the Glen Este game as well as Clay Coleman.

The sophmores are going to really help this year. In time you might see at least 2 of them starting.

well this could go on for a while! We all know what opinions are like?????????

What is Ryle's record so far? They better find something that works, a big school like that shouldn't struggle unless they're building with underclassmen? Mcliesh(soph)Coleman(soph) Helmer(Jr.). Come Jan if they're still losing bench the Sr class and start building!!!!
