Great 2nd half effort by the Lady Rams against a very good Rowan County team. Rowan continues to play well and will be a tough opponent when tournament time rolls around.

Raceland plays extremely hard and have some talented players. Getting everyone healthy will be a big factor in determining their success.

Welcome to the 16th region. Everyone knows that the 16th region refs let the girls play. When developing your team you must be ready for this. Its been like this at least the last 2 years (I wouldn't know before then). Blame it on the refs, but a loss is still a loss.

 

On a brighter note, it sounds like the Lady Rams took the best team in the region to the wire last night. Definitely something that the Lady Rams can build on. When Raceland gets healthy they could be a factor in the region come March.

 

Also a nice win for Rowan-a road win against a good opponent is always a nice victory.

 

 

agreed, IF. The girls in the 16th Region have been playing very physical ball for the last 3 years that I know of. I can't count the number of bruises, busted lips, or knots on the head my girls came home with over the last 4 years. That is part of the game, imo. My dad would have been so proud!

IMHO I think the physical nature of the girls game in the 16th is now beginning to be on par with the rest of the state. Ask coaches of teams that often travel to Lexington/Louisville and see what they say. The game has been pretty physical in those areas for a long time. Its not in our teams (16th Region) best interest to have every bump called here then go play in big time tournaments or state tournaments where the physical play is part of the game.

I credit Troy Lee Thomas for ratcheting up the aggressiveness in the 16th Region (that's not a knock on the other coaches by any means). He brought hard-nosed dfenz back in vogue. Sounds like Coach Tackett has added some good ofenz to go along.
