Rockcastle Co. Football!!!

Featured Replies

I was sitting here thinking about Rockcastle's football team and wondering what things they could do to make 2008 football team better and be a very dominating team in the 4A district. I know it may be to early to talk about this but I would like to see them go above and beyond their abilities that I know they have. Let's hear some of your thought's and comments. IMO I see them going far in 2008 season by learning from some of their mistakes they made and improving on them very well and going further than what they did last year's season.

doodle, what starters are returning? Also, anyone from Bell can please tell me what Bell is losing? Bell's situation will have A LOT to do with Rockcastle next season.

Hey, Doodle! I would recommend a steady diet of pizza, cokes, and donuts. Couple that with strength and conditioning on the Wii or X-Box! Does that help! We at Bell would recommend that for Rock! LOL!

We will take that into advisement :p:D

I advise Merrick to forget kicking and take up golf :D

Bell only loses 6 seniors. Some key defensive lineman and LB, but there are good players coming up. TR Christopher will be replaced by Carton, freshman, who shared a lot of time coming down the stretch; Zachary will take over the QB duties and will present a much different threat....led the rout over McCreary Central in the playoffs with Nelson out. Stronger arm than Nelson and a running threat; Spencer Greer, leading rusher will be even stronger; Monte Merrick returns with perhaps the best kicking game in the state; Receiving corps of Ely, Rains, and J.Dudley Hilton will provide great targets; Many freshman and sophomores started this year on both offense and defense. Bell will be bigger, stronger, and faster in 2008. The sting of the Lex Cath defeat will drive the off season with a run on state the goal. Bell was a sophomore laden team in 2006...this will be their Senior year...many of them starting for their third and fourth seasons. Look for the 2008 team to be one of Bell's best in many years.

Rockastle will be better, but according to Coach Greer, so will Bell Co.

Bell could be a dangerous team...again. It all depends on Shawnta Zachary and his ability to lead the team as a QB. I look for the Rockcastle-Bell game to be closer this year. Both teams are not losing much and they will be ready. Hopefully Knox Central doesn't throw a cog into the equation but I see these two teams battling for the district again. THIS time the winner WILL win the Region. Write it dow..... Nevermind:D

Greer did not coach this year at Bell. They have a very good staff in place and will be their first full year together so I would look for some minor changes. But yes Bell should be better if everyone continues to work.

Tommy was Coaching their defense when we scrimmaged them. He was also with their staff at the State finals.

He may have been out their but he was not coaching. He liked to hang around during games and yell some but that was about the extend of it from what I understand LOL. Administrators are not allowed to coach in the Bell County school system.

Greer did not coach in any capacity this year; he attended just a few practices. He was with the team on every game but only as an administrator and parent.

Shawnta will do just fine as QB. Nelson will be sorely missed on Defense. The bobcats have a chance to be a very good offense but have some holes to fill on defense

Based on what he was doing, I had no reason to think he wasn't coaching. Thanks for the info. I still consider him a coach, though. Very good football mind and a great guy.

No I have to disagree with you on that they would be better off eating big mac's and peanut butter that will give them protein and make them stronger in the long run as well as hitting the weight room really hard.

I think Tiger Woods made more in one weekend last year than all the NFL kickers put together.....hmmmm!! Let's hope he's not tempted!
