Bubba Wilson Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hounds come out victorious in a 2OT game at Middlesboro. Hounds were a little shaky with no Crawford to go to but did enough to win behind Johnson and Wilson. Credit to Middlesboro too - Greene and Smith were very solid tonight.
4chs Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Corbin Scoring: Johnson - 26 Wilson - 21 Smith - 13 Manns - 12 L. Crawford - 11 Barley - 7 Hendrickson - 2 Rogers - 2
jacketsfan Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Middlesboro seemed to be clicking on all cylinders to start the second half and was up by 12 or more. Then pg Antwan Brown got into foul trouble and ending up fouling out in the fourth. The team had trouble bringin the ball up the court without him in the game. I was wondering what the Corbin fans thought but I think the game was poorly officated both ways. Green had a very solid game to go along with a nice dunk. Smith played well also and had a great block(any1 else think it may have been goaltending). C Will harrison also had a block with under 3 seconds to go to make sure the game went into OT before fouling out in the first OT. Corbin will be a very Impresive team when Crawford returns. Anyone know how long he is out for? But i think Middlesboro will suprise a few people this year.
bbplayer3 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 This was a hard fought game. I feel the officials took the game from MHS - calling ridiculous fouls - especially against pg Brown. Middlesboro is much improved - playing as a team. When some of Middlesboros players could have taken a decent shot they gave the ball up to teammates that had a better shot - resulting in points - something not seen in the past. Smith had 7 assists and more nice passing by other jackets.Harrison for Middlesboro also had a very nice game - hitting several jumpers and getting some blocks. Nick Smith had a solid game shooting high percentage for 31 points. Green hit some nice jumpers and had a nice dunk. MHS had 3 starters to foul out - Corbin 0. That hurt in the OT.

Brown fouling out really hurt Middlesboro, I'm not sure if Corbin makes the comeback with him still in the game. Middlesboro took some ill-advised shots in the last 2 minutes of regulation that may have been just as big as the PG fouling out though. The Corbin kids just kept battling when Middlesboro was lighting it up, but the Hounds were fortunate to win this game. Middlesboro has a good team though they need to develop some depth and learn to be a little more patient at times. Corbin had a difficult time guarding Smith, who has a good inside/outside game and Middlesboro's entire starting five are all very good players.
321-good Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Middlesboro has got and has had talent. They should be able to compete this year, but I don't think they have the coaching. It's really been a shame to watch the talent go through Mboro and not compete any better than they have. Corbin without Crawford and probably football players should have been a win going away for Middlesboro.
SLINK Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Sounds like this was a very entertaining game. Fans got their money's worth.
Old School Dr. Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Middlesboro has some good talent and will be a formiddable foe this year for anyone in the 13th Region and can play with Corbin with or without Crawford

I agree the coaching has been horrible at Middlesboro especially when Ed Jones was coach(01-06). I played for him and trust me he had no clue. I dont think we every did a deffensive drill while I was there. The guy won a couple of 3a or 4a state championships when he was coaching in Florida and must of been living in a goldmine of athletes as he coached Stallworth that played at Tennesse a couple of years back. Bill Jones is turning the program around but still has some things to work on.I think the team needs to work on deffense as group and try to stay away from the 2-3 zone.

High school basketball in Florida does not compare to high school basketball in Kentucky. The fundamentals and coaching in KY is light years ahead of Florida.
nomorenoles Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Playing without Crawford now will make some of the other kids at Corbin growup. I would hate to have to sit one of their first 5 who is playing now when Crawford comes back. All 5 of them can play and have an important role.
Bubba Wilson Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 Championships are more important at Corbin than playing time. The selfish players, parents leave and find a happy place to pad their stats usually. I think the kids in the program are willing to sacrifice personal gain for the good of the team. People remember the championship team members, not the guy who scored a bunch of points and never got out of the district tourney. I think the team comes first and the one who has to come off the bench will add the same positive aspect to the team once the time comes. That time maybe sooner than most expect...lol

I have not not seen much out of either Jones. I'm sure the fans are glad Ed Jones is gone. They have talent and we'll have to see about the ability of the current Jones.
