9th Region Pre Season Competition

Featured Replies

I understand that Highlands and Conner are playing tomorrow in Lexington. The Birds are playing Iroquois and the Cougars are playing Lex. Cath. If you want to be the best you have to play the best. Both teams will face no tougher competition the rest of the year with maybe the exception of Montgomery County, which I believe Highlands has on their schedule. Highlands also has Dunbar next week. Obviously both coaches see the importance of playing competitively early in the year and will benefit tremendously from this type of competition. Do any of the other schools in the region play a pre season schedule like this?

They all don't play as good as competition as you mention but they do all scrimmage.

Anyone have any results from the HHS and Conner scrimmages?

Highlands lost to Iroquois, in a closely contested scrimmage at LexCath. I had heard Iroquois was rated highly in the state. Birds looked pretty good!

Just read in CJ sports that Iroquois is ranked third in the state preseason. Any details on who looked good for HHS? Any suprises?

I caught the 2nd half of the V scrimmage. No suprises. The only new face is Frosh Aly Connor. Towles and Adler have improved on the inside. The Birds are young but battle tested. Next couple of years should be real exciting:dancingpa

I heard the Birds looked pretty good. From what I've been told Iroquois only lost two games the entire year last year and returned 4 starters. A nice way to start things off.

In the Conner Varsity game, Lexington Catholic won the first half by 8 (reset score each half) and pulled away by more the second half.

I think Lex Cath is ranked 2nd in the state this year, so Conner has nothing to hang their head over. It was a good test for the girls. They should have a good team this year despite losing some size.
