During a game at Paris over the weekend in their Panaroma, there was a foul called against a girl playing defense on the post player down on the block. When questioned by a coach as to what their player did to foul, the official turns and says coach, players are allowed to post up, the coach says in return well we are allowed to defend the post. The official replys, coach go back and read your rule book.

 

My question is, what the crap does a rule book have to do with his response to that question? I think the official just said something just to be saying it. In my opinion, that is a weak response! The fun has begun!

Hand in the passing lane denying the pass from the wing. There was never any answer to why the foul was called other than go and read the rule book. I thought to myself that was the silliest answer I have ever heard.

It probably was the case but then what do you tell the kid. Good D but not when that ref is there. I go through this with my kid all the time. I tell her you have to get a feel for how they are going to call the game and watch the calls they are making. Then you have to change your style to fit those refs.

 

Oh well...part of being human. It would be nice to hear a ref say..oops wrong call!

You are correct, I think we are all assuming since there was not a response then it was not the right call. An explanation would have given the coach the info he needed and taught the player what she did wrong.

 

May have been a legitimate call, it was just the response was inadequate.!
