Is it time?

IMO - I'd rather change the idea of No Child Left Behind and remove students rather than adding guns. By the time the kids get to high school - it is very evident that some have already been left way behind and are angry...

The education system should go on trial here. Teach kids to read and do basic math - then let them pursue some things they are interested in. Vocational schools need to be growing in this country.

Amen to that one! I think some places are starting to realize that it's OK for kids to want to go to Vocational School. They are doing a pilot program at my old high school that revolves around the coal industry. I think it's great that they are giving those kids hope that once they get out of school they will be able to support their families with their craft.

Kids get away with murder in a lot of schools in this state! I have my Master's (Principal's certification) and one of the things I had to do was go to 9 different schools to spend the day with other Principal's. It was UNREAL what goes on behind closed doors! One school I was in (2nd best middle school in Lexington supposedly) a boy punched a female teacher in the nose. They had him down on the ground and he was ripping another female's hair out. It was a 3 hour battle and they couldn't get him out of the school in fear of being sued. I finally left the school I was at when a boy tried to punch a girl in the face. I had caught the same boy stealing $300 two weeks before. He got mad at me when I broke them up and cussed me up one side and down the other. I let it roll off my back because I didn't feel like getting sued. He then punched my door and crushed his hand. The next day his dad came in fighting mad. It was all good after he heard my side of the story but our Assistant Principal had me go write the girl up. This was all done in front of the boy's dad. I asked why and he said because the boy had done the right thing. The way he saw it he could have punched the girl in the face but instead punced the door! Forget he would have punched her if I hadn't borke the fight up and forget him cussing me + hitting my door etc. I knew it was time for a break after that one!
