Coach Shelton had this to say about the signing of Josh Wood. “Josh is a great sign for us. He is what we look for in recruiting. He is a very good athlete and has great character. He is a very good student as well. He is a versatile player that can play outfield, infield, and pitch. I see him as a corner outfielder, but he has played a lot of infield for his summer team, so he could potentially play first or third base. He already has the ability to hit the ball out of the park, but with strength gains, he could become a power hitter at this level. He has a great arm and could possibly become a closer for us.”

I had the chance to watch Josh play many times this past spring and he will be a huge asset to Cumberland. Cumberland has had just an outstanding recruiting class this year, plus they return every pitcher from last years squad. They should be the leading contenders to knock National power Cumberland, Tenn. out of their stronghold of NAIA region 11. I really look forward to seeing this group together this year. As many of you know, I am a huge fan of Coach Shelton and the Cumberland Patriots. Go Pats.
