Morgan County

Featured Replies

There was a thought they would have hired by the end of this week. What is the word on the situation there?

I heard that Morgan County hired an assistant coach from Rowan County. This is hearsay. Can anyone confirm this?

Morgan County has hired Jeff Norman. Coach Norman spent last season as an assistant coach at Louisville Western H.S.

Despite the very good news for Coach Norman and the Cougars,...his oldest son Brett, who played QB at Rowan CO., before transferring to Louisville Western last season was in a serious car accident in Morgan Co. He along with former teammates Wayne Stevens (Rowan Co./Bath Co.) Jake Bowman (Rowan Co.) and a relative of Jake Bowman were seriously injured.

Please be thinking and praying for Coach Norman's family and Brett as well as the families of the other injured. I believe all were at UK Medical Center.

Coach Norman WILL be the new head football coach at Morgan Co. and will be in West Liberty on Monday evening to meet with the team and to begin work at 6:00 at the Cougar Den.

All of these developments are happening rapidly and the most important thing is to send get well wishes and prayers to the families of these fine kids and families.

I am glad that Morgan Co./ had got a coach :thumb: .Good luck to Coach Norman and the Cougars.

Prayers from the Rambler go out for the families and friends of the boys involved in the accident.

Hopefully he will stick around in West Liberty for awhile. I know they have some good boosters for the team that is lead by Donnie McKenzie.

I also hope only the best for Morgan .... Like traveling to the ditch for sorgum bowl ...

Morgan Co. will host Fairview in the next two consecutive Sorghum Bowl's...I did enjoy the games Morgan Co. had with Russell over the last few years. The place was packed and an excellent football game between two good teams in 2005...

Head Coach Jeff Norman has began working very quickly with his new program. About 20 players turned out on short notice for the teams 1st workout on Monday night. There are several baseball, basketball and other players that will be playing but were unavailable...the numbers are a great sign. But perhaps even a better sign are the "quality" of the athletes that are playing.

Better news is that Sophomore Jacob Flack will be back this summer and it was thought the RB/LB wouldn't be at Morgan Co....the Junior to be will help a great deal.

Back from injuries are bruising FB Brandon Ward, C Ryan Buckler, CB Dewey Blevins, QB/SS Andrew Fannin

Ward, Havens, Flack, Conn should provide a great mix of power and speed in the backfield. The offensive line returned 3 of 5 starters but gets immediate help with Justin Leach returning and Coach Norman's son, a 6'0" 240 Sophomore to be who was to be a major factor on the offensive line at Lou. Western.

Senior Clay Adkins is a 3 year starter back on both sides of the football and received great reviews at EKU and WKU senior days recently.

I have no idea of how this team will do. Way too early to predict or forecast. But the Cougars have some talented young kids that can and will compete. I think this team will lay low and let the chips fall as they may.

Congrats on finding a coach. Glad he is excited to be there. Did he coach at Western with Doug Preston, formally of Rowan Co. ?
