C'Mon man, basic concert protocol is that you don't listen to them for a while before hand and they will sound even better live. Then you burn out your CD's afterwards.:ylsuper:

No shame in that at all. I've just found it to be in my best interest as a lover of live performances to not listen to them for a while and they sound that much better in person.

Well currently its the eleventh, Ill follow your advise, soley because you seem to have alot of experience...but its gonna be tough. I hardly go a day without listening to...'The Pot':fight:

I've seen Tool twice and to be honest, I was a little disappointed in their live show. It's worth going to, but they're one of my all time favorite bands, so maybe I was just expecting too much. I expected them to be a little better than they were. There wasn't enough of a spontaneous feeling to it...it's like everything in the show was scripted down to the letter and everything sounded exactly like the CD, which is good to a certain point, but I like to hear something a little different and unique at a live show. Also, they don't do a whole lot in the way of crowd interaction...and again, I know that's not really their style, but they could do just a little I think.

 

So, it's worth seeing, but being a huge fan of the band, I've come away a little disappointed in the two shows I watched.

When you seen them were they at big Venues? Like outside or like a Rupp kind of place? I bet Tool would sound great in a small venue like The Louisville Gardens or even Better Bogarts.

Tool Tossing Around Ideas For 'Surreal' Movie

 

With Tool entrenched on the road in support of its latest effort "10,000 Days," guitarist Adam Jones tells Billboard.com the alt-metal act is tossing around ideas for a band movie.

 

"It has to be a collective thing as far as the band members," says Jones. "Everyone has to be very happy and it has to be done in a way where people would see integrity and hard work and not just something thrown together or home movies or some sh*tty filmed live show.

 

"It's a selfish thing," he continues. "There's that selfish quality of what we want versus what everyone else wants. But I think at the end of the day if we get what we want, it's reflective in what other people see in that."

I think its pretty interesting how Maynard doesn't stand in the front of the stage, but just merely sings in the shadows to let Adam, Danny and Justin get all the attention.

Have you ever been to one of their shows? From what i have seen, Maynard doesn't interact much with the crowd, strickly business when he is on stage. Some people take offense to that, but i dont mind it.

 

Another interesting fact is, he is from southern Ohio, was a high school athelete and attended one of the military academies. ( I think West Point)
