Great story last night as Jon Lester made his return to the majors 11 months after being diagnosed with Lymphoma. He went 6 innings and only allowed 2 runs to the major's best home team, The Cleveland Indians. He gave up 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. Just a great, great story with all the unpleasantness in sports right now with the Michael Vick and NBA betting stories.

The fact that he's a Red Sox makes it only that much better.

Anyone heard anything about the possible Texiera to Boston rumors?

I'm not buying this one. Where is he going to play? Youkilis is out hitting him so he isn't going to play first. Lowell is leading the team in RBIs so he isn't going to the bench so Youk can play 3rd and he for sure isn't going to put Ortiz on the bench at DH. I just don't see where the Sox have a place for him unless he or someone else can play right field and even at that they've got Drew signed for 4 years so they aren't benching him. I just don't see this happening especially since Texas is supposed to be requesting Bucholtz and Ellsworth. The Sox WILL NOT trade Bucholtz.

Tonight the Sox behind 7 shutout innings from Dice-K won on the road for the 2nd consecutive night against the majors best team at home, The Cleveland Indians 1-0. Matsuzaka went 7 innings allowing only 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5. He improved to 12-7 and has really been earning the money that the Sox took such a beating on this message board for spending. The majors best bullpen took it from there pitching 2 perfect innings. On a side note Schilling struck out 6 in 3 innings in a rehab assignment againts Triple A Louisville tonight and Big Papi is slated to return tomorrow.

AJG, you think there's anything to the Jermaine Dye to Boston rumors?

I just don't know where he'd play. Drew hasn't been great but he's signed way beyond this year, if they give up on him now given his track record I'd say he'd have to be dealt and at his price the takers will be few and far between. If they do trade for Dye I'd say the Chisox would have to be giving him away cheap.
