Most Sweet 16 wins in last decade

Featured Replies

1. Scott County- 11 state tournament wins

2 tie. Lexington Catholic- 9 state tournament wins

2 tie. Warren Central- 9 state tournament wins

2 tie. Mason County- 9 state tournament wins

5. Ballard- 8 state tournament wins

6. Pleasure Ridge Park- 7 state tournament wins

7 tie. Male- 6 state tournament wins

7 tie. South Laurel- 6 state tournament wins

9. Paducah Tilghman- 5 state tournament wins

8 tie. Elizabethtown- 5 state tournament wins

I have compiled this least each year since 1999. Scott Co has been at the top of the list each year.

I better stat would be how often each team gets to the Sweet 16, and then how it fares at it. Some regions are weak enough that one team goes almost every year.

What about total wins in the last 10 years? Who leads in that area?

I haven't figured that one up. But my guess would be either Scott County or Lexington Catholic. This is very impressive for Scott Co because in most years the Cards play the states toughest schedule.

I just ran the numbers for Scott Co and Lexington Catholic. It wasn't as close as I thought it would be. Below are the numbers for the last 10 years including up to the start of the Sweet 16 this year:

Scott Co. 276 wins (avg 27.6 wins per year)- 46 loses

Lexington Catholic 257 wins (avg 25.7 wins per year)- 69 loses

I would like to see the same figures for Ballard, Warren Central, South Laurel, PRP, Mason Co, and other top programs.

I'm in the middle of trying to compile the entire list, but it's going to take a long time. I'm probably gonig to do it tomorrow. So far I'm through the first region and the highest are Paducah Tilghman (with 233) and Graves County (222).

I do know that Warren Central has 220 wins against 88 losses. That number will probably increase greatly over the next two seasons as they drop the first two seasons under Coach Riley in these figures. The team went 6-18 and 3-23 in his first two seasons. Central has gone 211-47 (.818) over the last 8 seasons, an average of 26-6 roughly.

Thanks for the info Dragon. Riley's numbers are impressive.

The ones you mentioned by name:

Ballard: 256-63 (.803) (Only one season under 20 wins, which will be dropped from these numbers next year)

South Laurel: 240-77 (.757) (As is the case with Ballard, their worst season was 10 years ago and will be dropped from these next year)

PRP: 261-57 (.821) (This season tied for their lowest wins, but their worst season was 10 years ago - sensing a pattern?)

Mason County: 246-77 (.761) (Worst 3 seasons are 97/98-99/00. Their numbers are this high in great part due to an astounding 68 combined wins between their championship and runner-up campaigns)

Thanks, guys. Nice research! What about Sweet 16 wins the last decade? Yeah some of these school go 4 times in 10 years but how often do they win?

Pretty sure that's what is in the first post.

Not talking about Championships... I can read. I meant total wins in the Sweet 16.

The first post, the very first post in this thread, is the total number of wins in the Sweet 16 in the last decade. Scott County has 11, Central has 9, LexCath has 9, etc. I'm not trying to demean you, but I'm pretty certain that's what you're looking for.
