Holmes 61 St. Henry 50

Featured Replies

Final. I believe Rice led Holmes in scoring with 21 and Lenhof carried St. Henry. On to the finals for the Bulldogs hopefully these boys will get back to Rupp.

Penetration kills. SHDHS somehow let the Bulldogs penetrate despite playing a 2-3 zone. Holmes did not hit an outside shot all night so I'm not sure why the middle was open.

Hats off to SHDHS. They had they game where they hoped it would be. They simply could not wrap it up. Great senior class.

Nice win for the Dawgs. One more to get back to Rupp. Go get it done men.

Dawgs will come in to the region finals fired up. How was the crowd tonight?

St Henry was up 37-31, with about 2:00 to go in the third quarter, and looked like they really had control of the game, pace wise.

They proceeded to get outscored 30-13 to end the game.

Holmes's defense was tightened up a bit, and St. Henry made some turnovers and were not getting many second chances.

I thought St. Henry's slide started when Henderson took over guarding Lenhof. I think Lenhof ended with 17 points but he was practically shut out by Henderson who denied him penetration and any open looks. That seem to frustrate the Crusaders. They looked out of sync over the last 10 minutes of the game.

In the meantime, Holmes just split the guards up top with strong penetrations to the middle of the paint and had shots 5 feet from the basket. Rice had a field day along the baseline.

Both teams shot free throws poorly. Holmes was 5-12 in the first half, and didn't do much better in the second but hit some to get them out to a 8-10 point lead. St. Henry missed roughly 5 in a row, plus two front ends of one and ones.

Gallant effort by the Crusaders, but the Bulldogs stepped up when needed.

Thanks for the recap. Sounds like Holmes just wanted it more.

The more I think about it, here is what I have decided: if it is still a game in the 4th quarter, St. Henry wins. But I am prepared to eat crow if necessary.

:jump: :jump: There was my prediction! :scared:

Congratulations to Holmes.
