Championship Game

JBS beats Hazard

The most interesting game of the first round, imo, is Powell County vs June Buchanan.

 

 

If Powell County shoots like they did in the championship game of the 56th...look out. They missed a few 3's early, but heated up in the last 3 quarters. And Ryan Romans is a bear inside. He's not all that tall, about 6'2, but he is BIG through his body and legs, kinda like a linebacker. And he's quicker than he looks. He's almost impossible to stop if he gets the ball around the basket. Plus, the Pirate's shooters can definitely match Buchanan's, that's for sure. This should be one dandy of a game.

:thumb: I agree 100%. Powell's shooters are the key to their success and with Romans in the middle they are very dangerous. I like Powell in this match-up, I think Powell's speed could run JBS out of the gym. It will be hard for Short and Collins to chase down those quick post men. JBS will have to light it up to beat Powell. I also like Powell in LCC's gym, i've seen them play there and they put up 103 points in the game i attended.

JBS got a really tough draw with Powell, looks like Hazard got the best draw.

Looks like Hazard got... the best side of the bracket.

Hazard got the best draw of the top 4 teams in the 14th. However I look for an upset if KCC and Hazard meet in the semis. I like Buckhorn over Breathitt and Powell over JBS. It will be one of the most wide open tourneys in the 14th in several years with 6 team having legit shots at playing in Lexington. The bottom bracket is tough. 4 of top 5 teams in same bracket.

I think the Buckhorn/Breathitt will be the best game in the region. Two similar teams who like to win on the inside, but can hurt you on the outside. The Powell/JBS game could be a great one as well, depending on which teams show up.
