Knox Cent. 74 North Laurel 71 OT

Featured Replies

KC erased a 10-point NL lead in the final 1:30, sending it to OT on Jacob Scalf's three with six seconds left. Corey Williamson had two huge stickbacks in the OT, and NL couldn't hit FTs late.

Sounds like N.L. let one slip away. Knox needed a win going into the District.

North had 16 turnovers in the second half. They led by as many as 14 in the first half and 12 in the second half. They spread it out with a 60-48 lead with about 3:30 to play, but getting out of attack mode seemed to cause momentum to shift.

Cody Miller had 13 of his 20 in the fourth quarter and OT. He drew fouls #4&5 on Josh Seidel on back-to-back possessions with about a minute to go in regulation, which was key.

Seidel had an incredible start, hitting 7-of-9 shots and scoring 17 points as NL got out to a 27-17 lead midway through the second quarter. But after that — through a combination of KC's defense stiffening and NL kind of getting away from him — Seidel took only three more shots the rest of the way. He finished with 21/9.

With Seidel out of the game, KC was able to key on Nick Shannon in the OT. He had three tries at a game-tying three in the final 31 seconds of OT, but one was blocked (by Miller) and two others rimmed off. All three were from very deep, and they were very contested.

Some other numbers:

KC

Miller 20 pts 5 stls 6 boards

Messer 20 pts (4-8 3FG) 6 boards off the bench

NL

Shannon 17 pts 6 ast 5 boards 3 stls

Tiller 11 pts 5 boards 4 ast

KC shot 39.1% before halftime, 56.7% after (49.1 overall)

NL shot 58.3% before halftime, 39.1 after (48.9 overall)

KC outrebounded NL 31-25 and forced 22 turnovers while giving it up 20 times.

Great scoop there Schue... KC definately stole one in NL's backyard. Great win for the Panthers, should definately give them some big MO. going into the district. Feel bad for Conway. Felt like NL's youth got them tonight. Just didn't make plays or FT's down the stretch.

This game shows how much North has came back in the last month, just to be able to be in the game with KC after their Jan. is great, KC did need this game before their big showdown with B'ville.
