Hazard (2-7) travels to Somerset (8-1) to close out the regular season. The two teams are headed in completely different directions. Hazard started off the season 2-0, but has lost their last 7 games. Not only have they lost, the games haven't been close. The lowest margin of victory in the 7 losses was 24 points. Somerset, meanwhile, has reeled off 5 wins in a row after their loss to Ironton. During that 5 game win streak their defense has surrendered a total of 21 points. Over the last 15 years this has been an entertaining, and competitive series. Somerset holds the all-time edge 23-9-3, but is only 8-5 since the teams began playing regularly in 2011. This one has the look of being a running clock early. Hopefully both teams come out of it healthy. And hopefully Hazard can get things turned around in the off-season and get back to playing winning football.

Somerset big.

Hazard started the preseason out losing there starting quarterback to a broken collar. He got his first start last week against Pikeville.Since then they lost 6 players to season ending injuries. Some did get to play a couple games before injury but those have devastated a Class 1A team with limited numbers. I’m hoping this team still has a little bit of fight left in them. Because I think they have a shot at Williamsburg in round one, but this matchup here before that playoff game I don’t think they will matchup well with Somerset.

Somerset defense is the real deal. Really impressed with that unit in Friday's night game at Christian Co.

Somerset 41-12.
