2026 WNBA Playoffs

Featured Replies

The field is now set:

Top seed Minnesota Lynx takes on the 8 seed NY Liberty

2 seed Golden State Valkyries vs 7 seed Dallas Wings

3 Seed Las Vegas Aces against the 6 seed Indiana Fever

4 seed Atlanta Dream takes on the 5 seed Washington Mystics

I'm kind of expecting chalk. but I would not be surprised to see Indiana take out Vegas (beat them 2 of three in the season series), nor would I be shocked if Washington beat Atlanta. Mystics finished strong down the stretch. Should be fun.

Caitlin Clark finished tonight with 27 points, 15 assists and 7 rebounds.

In the thirty seasons the WNBA has existed, nobody had ever put up 25 points and 15 assists in a game. Not one player, not one night, until this one.

She had most of it done by the break. 14 points and 11 assists at halftime, which is a double double in a single half of a playoff game, and nobody had ever done that either.

But that is not the number that matters here.

Tonight was the first playoff game Caitlin Clark has ever won.

Here is the whole of her postseason career before tonight.

In 2024, her rookie year, the Indiana Fever made the playoffs and the Connecticut Sun swept them out in the first round. Clark had 20 points and 8 assists in Game 1. She had 25 and 9 in Game 2. Indiana lost both.

She made All WNBA First Team that season, only the fifth rookie in the history of the league to do it, and she went home 0-2.

Then came 2025.

She hurt her groin before the All Star break and it did not get better. She played 13 games all season and averaged 16.5 points and 8.8 assists in them, and then the Indiana Fever ruled her out for the rest of the year.

A lot of people wrote the season off right there.

The Fever did not. Without her, they beat the Atlanta Dream 87-85 in a deciding Game 3, on a bucket by Aliyah Boston with 7.4 seconds on the clock and a steal by Lexie Hull to end it.

It was the first playoff series the Indiana Fever had won in ten years. It put them in the semifinals for the first time since 2015.

And the most famous basketball player in the country watched all of it from the sideline in street clothes, hugging her teammates when it was over.

That is the part worth sitting with. The biggest thing her franchise had done in a decade happened while she could not play in it.

Tonight the Las Vegas Aces came into Indiana with a 1-0 lead in the series and a chance to end her season again.

Indiana Fever 99, Las Vegas Aces 89.

But a 24 year old who has been the most watched, most argued about athlete in her sport since the night she was drafted had her biggest win as a pro so far.
