The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

Eastern Indiana

Northern into Northeast Kentucky

West-Central into Southwest Ohio

* Effective this Tuesday morning and afternoon from 840 AM until

200 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...

Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

to 80 mph possible

A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...A bowing segment and associated squall line will continue

southeast through the morning into the Watch area. Scattered severe

gusts (60 to 80 mph) are possible with the more intense surges

within the squall line. A brief tornado is also possible.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles northwest of

Dayton OH to 50 miles west southwest of Huntington WV. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

We need the rain and we are going to get it. Looks like it is going to hit me a little before noon.

My local forecast was saying 98% T-storms and as luck would have it I fell in the 2% with barely a drop.

Right, this thing totally lost its mojo.

For Cincinnati and northern Kentucky, the better chance for stronger storms appears to be this afternoon into the evening, depending on how quickly the Ohio storms move through and how much the atmosphere can recover.

Across northeast and eastern Kentucky, additional development this afternoon could become strong to severe, especially where temperatures warm and instability increases.

Bottom line: It’s going to be a day for sky watching. Morning storms don’t make for a slam-dunk setup, but there is enough instability and wind shear for severe storms to develop. Damaging winds are the main threat, but hail, heavy rain and an isolated tornado are possible.
