South Oldham 29 East Jessamine 14 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

East Jessamine travels to South Oldham on Friday night for the second scrimmage of the season. South Oldham struggled in their first scrimmage against 6A Frederick Douglass while working in new faces at many positions. East Jessamine comes off a 14-0 scrimmage victory over Mercer County. Last season South Oldham defeated East Jessamine fairly handily but it’s a new year. East Jessamine seems to be improved from last season and South Oldham is a little down so I look for this to be a competitive, beneficial scrimmage for both 5A squads.

This should be a good scrimmage for EJ. I’ll be listening/watching for updates on this one.

I agree with your assessment that this scrimmage will be competitive and beneficial to both teams. South does some things differently than Mercer on D that will definitely be a test for the East Jess O line, but I think those boys are growing up and starting to become more comfortable. Main thing for the O to take away from this scrimmage in my opinion is continued growth on timing in the passing game, run game continues to improve on adjusting off blocks and hitting the holes North-South quicker and not dancing too much East-West. For East Jess D, they got to see a couple of weaknesses briefly exposed against Mercer so I would feel safe in saying the coaches have been working on corrections for those. I feel like this is an excellent scrimmage for the staff to have scheduled with where they are in terms of being ready for their schedule.

Unable to be there for this so if anyone can update that would be great.

I just got an update that East Jessamine is down 21-14 at the half. Took the opening kick back for a TD and also had about a 60 yard passing TD

29-14 final score. Things got testy towards the end with egos flaring up. But overall a very competitive scrimmage as I’ve heard it. Also hearing the East Jessamine froshmores flushed some and show some good promise for the future.

now on to the regular season.
