Southwestern assistant coach, William "Billy" Carson has been named new Estill County head coach. 

 

Estill County High School is proud to welcome Billy Carson as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach of the Engineers.

 

Coach Carson brings 16 years of coaching experience to ECHS, including five years as a head coach and 11 years as an assistant. Throughout his career, he has been a part of both district and regional championship teams, demonstrating a consistent commitment to excellence and a deep understanding of what it takes to build winning programs. Most recently, Coach Carson served as the head assistant at Southwestern High School in Somerset, Kentucky, where he played a key role in developing student-athletes and contributing to a competitive and disciplined program.

 

Originally from London, Kentucky, Coach Carson is a dedicated teacher and proud father to two wonderful children, Graham (7) and Rylee (4). His strong values, leadership experience, and passion for the game make him an outstanding addition to the Estill County community.

 

Coach Carson shared the following message as he begins this new chapter:

 

“I am incredibly honored for the opportunity to lead this program. I want to thank the administration for their trust and belief in me. I’m very excited to get to work and create a culture of accountability, togetherness, toughness, and pride. There is a strong tradition here and we will focus on building on that every day. I want to bring tremendous energy, compete at a high level, and make this community proud! Go Engineers!”

 

An introductory press conference and meet and greet will be held in the ECHS auditorium Wednesday (4/29) at 7:00pm.
