6th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)

Featured Replies

Fasten your seatbelts because I think we are about to take a big turn in the 6th region as we head into the off-season. Here are some of the key storylines to think about, all of which indicate we may be looking at a sea-change in the region:

- Butler is going to go through a major loss to graduation as they graduate their top 4 scorers. I still expect them to develop a formidable team by the time December comes around, but the expectation simply can't be what it was the past two years, at least in my opnion.

- We have had two seasons culminating in a Jeffersontown versus Butler title game, Butler winning this past year and JTown winning the year prior. Larron Westmoreland and Davion Glenn return for Jeffersontown but they will be without their two leading scorers from this year, Dayvonne Harrison and Damere Clark.

- JTown will also have to worry about even escaping the 24th District. What will Evangel Christian and WEB DuBois look like? Will Evangel have a new coach? Will Fern Creek have something to say? And can we expect Whitefield Academy to pull off a couple of upsets again?

- Speaking of Evangel, who about Molima? He will be a senior and if he returns, you got to think he breaks into the Mr. Basketball discussion. He is on a Power 4 trajectory.

- Neyko Jenkins will be a senior and there is a legitimate argument for PRP being a regional contender next year. At the end of the day, will we see PRP, DuBois, and Evangel supplant Butler and Jeffersontown at the top? Can Butler and Jeffersontown remain contenders? Are there any other teams that could also contend?

I think this region is at an absolutely fascinating crossroads and it will be fun to see what develops.
