Danville Christian Academy 55 Lincoln County 48 (45th District Semifinals)

Featured Replies

Final. Season ends for Lincoln. DCA advances to the district finals with a guaranteed spot in the regional tournament.

DCA did not get much of a reward for going undefeated in a very tough district. Credit to DCA for battling and extending the lead late in the second half to secure the victory.

When the 5 seed is a team that nearly (probably should have) beat the 1 seed during the regular season, nobody is getting rewarded with easy district semifinals in the 45th.

Should be a fun district title game.

The best two teams in the 45th will meet.  The other 3 teams were well below .500 this season.  Lincoln (12-17), Garrard (12-19) and Danville (11-14).  Lincoln played with a lot of heart, and their zone was very active.  DCA switching tempo to start the half, and moving Ateny around was the difference.  Also, you can't try to shoot layups over Ateny.  It's essentially a turnover that leads to a fastbreak.  Awesome Player!

I agree on the best two teams playing for the championship. Just not much room to breathe as a top seed in this district.

I would say Lincoln was probably a little better than their record indicated. Especially with the schedule they played. Had some quality wins over Wayne County, Southwestern, at South Laurel, and two teams in the 11th that were battle tested. ( Sayre and Lafayette)

And then to think about Danville being the five seed, and having wins over three regional qualifiers; Somerset, SCS, and Boyle.

For sure, but to me it's more about how you are playing down the stretch.  Lincoln had an atypical 6-9 regional record.  Danville was abysmal most of the season after losing Peters to an injury early in the year.  Garrard's big wins were over those two teams and an up/down Boyle Co. team.  I think injuries played a big part in all those teams being up and down though.

Injuries and illnesses are big factors and for some teams have a disproportionate impact.  In the DCA game referred to earlier against Danville in which they only won by 2 they were down a starter.  When they played later they won by 17.  That’s not to dismiss Danville’s effort, they played hard and hit shots, but missing a starter made a difference.

its similar to Lincoln, Baird is their best player and his ankle injury fairly early in the season hurt them.
