Trenton Moeller is stepping down after 2 seasons as head coach at Ohio County.

Mr. Embry, Administration of Ohio County Schools, Players, Parents, and Boosters,

I am very thankful for these last four years in Ohio County. Thankful for God leading my family here, thankful for the trust and support from the administration and community. Thank you to our coaches who have worked countless hours to be the best version of themselves to help their players be at their best. Most importantly, I want to thank the players who showed up day after day to develop into the best football players and young men possible. These last 4 years have truly been a blessing and I will forever be grateful for the memories made in Ohio County.

Over the winter it has become clear to me that my wife and I need to be closer to family for a number of reasons. This has been a hard realization for me as I wish for nothing but the best for this community that has taken us in with open arms.

Moving forward, I am excited to see the successes of the young men I have had the pleasure of coaching these last 4 years, as I am confident these young men will live a full and happy life. Through life, I hope these young men remember the tough lessons learned through these 4 seasons. lessons of perseverance, character, and hope. These young men have displayed perseverance through their determination and unwillingness to quit, character in how they lift their teammates and genuinely cared for each other, and hope, hope in the good that is in their futures.

It is with a grateful heart, that I ask Ohio County Schools to accept my resignation as Head Football Coach in an effort to help them find the best coaching candidate possible as my wife and I prepare to move back closer to our families.

Coach Moeller grew up in southwest Missouri, and his wife grew up on the eastern edge of central Missouri, so it looks like unfortunately he won't be resurfacing as a coach elsewhere in Kentucky, given his statement that they "need to be closer to family."

Ohio County just reposted a job listing for this on ZipRecruiter on the 13th, so I'm assuming that mean's they either haven't gotten many applications for the job, or haven't liked the applications they've gotten - or both.

This job has been open since January. Meanwhile, they have opted out of the second year of the contract for their Week 1 game with Trigg County. A bowl game (Trigg the host w/ Fort Campbell vs. Clarksville Northwest as the other game), I might add, that may leave Trigg without a week 1 game. From what I understand, Ohio County has agreed to play Warren East in their Bowl game.   Still no Coach named and opting out of a game. Very odd. What is going on here?

I think that would be wrong to opt out of one bowl game for another. Seems like they are playing a tougher team as well.
