2nd Lawrence Co boy to coach for the CATS!

Featured Replies

Gerad Parker was picked up as the offensive G.A. for UK this coming season and now you can add former Lawrence Co QB and Miami of Ohio Lber Dontae Wright to the LC boys on the UK staff! He has taken the position of defensive G.A. with the Cats! Dontae has battled adversity and is one of the best people I know! I can't tell you how excited I am for both he and Gerad. LC is represented well and the CATS have picked up two first class guys that love the game and are filled with passion!

Louisa has guys coaching all over the state, 2 at UK and one with the NY JETS! Not bad for a little town with a population of 2,000! The Lawrence County program also probably comes in around number 10 or so in the state for kids going on to play college ball since 1990!

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa :thumb:

Who coaches for the Jets from Lawrence Co.?

I found it for myself. Jason Michael, who quarterbacked Western Kentucky University from 1999-2002, leading the Hilltoppers to a D1-AA National Championship in '02. It is good to see in-state boys getting opportunities at higher levels of athletics.

Wow, that's great. I remember Dontae playing but I don't remember the Micheals boy.

I officiated many of Dontae's varsity games and I remember 1 games in particular when he had a couple racial slurs thrown at him by the opposing team and instead of blowing a gasget and recieving an unsportsmanlike, he calmly walked away from the situation and reported it to me. I didn't hear it at the time but I told my fellow officials to watch out for it. It happened for another time and Dontae AGAIN brushed it off and took the higher road. We heard it that time and ejected the player responsible. Not many kids would have handled the situation the way he did, especially considering we didn't hear it the 1st time and it happened on more than 1 occasion. It's just a testament to his character. I wish him nothing but the best... It's great to see area kids doing well in sports and coaching.

I also officiated Gerald Parker's record setting game while he was a Bulldog. Gerald is also a classact and will do very well in coaching.

Congrats to Coach Wright on his new job. It's great to see the local kids grow up to become successful young men. :thumb: :thumb:

Here's Jason. He was the QB at Lawrence Co when they borke Breathitt's 42 game win streak only to lose in the final 4 to Bourbon Co when they won it all. He is a 4.0 student and one of the toughest kids to ever play in Eastern KY. He went to Army then transferred to Western where he QBed them to a National Championship. He was a G.A. at Tenn where he finished his engineering degree. He's another one that is about as good as it comes! He is honestly in such a great situation that I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if he was an NFL head coach in the next 15 years or so. He's only 28 and works mostly with the Jets QB's and cuts offensive film etc.
