NKY Girls Basketball Top 10 Week #1 (12.8.25)

Featured Replies

We have one week in the books, we've had a great showcase put on by Dixie with regional, state, and national teams represented, and we've had a handful of results that capture your attention.  Several teams have started out more slowly than they, or we, would have expected, but it is early and there is a lot of basketball in front of us.  If there is one thing that looks pretty clear through week one, it is that Simon Kenton looks the part as the best team in the area.

There aren't a ton of great match-ups this week, but the ones we have that jump out are really good.  We also have the Stephanie Wilson Memorial Classic at Bellevue on Friday and Saturday, so for the second straight Saturday, you can come in from the cold and enjoy a lot of great basketball.  One game to note this week, I have my eye on Cooper at Sacred Heart, SHA looks very different, and Cooper showed a great deal in battling back against Lawrence on Saturday, so while it is nearly impossible to get a win AT Sacred Heart, Cooper may be traveling down I-71 with that very real possibility in play.  Good luck and safe travels to the Lady Jags!

1.  Simon Kenton (2-0 / 2-0 this week):  vs West Jessamine @ Scott County and at St. Henry

2.  Notre Dame (2-0 / 2-0 this week):  vs #4 Holy Cross and vs. Russell

3.  Cooper (1-1 / 1-1 this week):  at Sacred Heart

4.  Holy Cross (3-0 / 3-0 this week):  at #2 Notre Dame and vs. Boyd County at Bellevue

5.  Ryle (1-2 / 1-2 this week):  at Mercy Academy and vs. Bethlehem at Bellevue

6.  Campbell County (0-1 / 0-1 this week):  at NewCath, vs Ballard at Bellevue, and vs Montgomery County

7.  Highlands (2-0 / 2-0 this week):  vs Dayton, vs Scott at Bellevue, and vs Newport

8.  Bishop Brossart (3-0 / 3-0 this week):  at Mercy McAuley (OH) and at #9 Dixie

9.  Dixie (1-2 / 1-2 this week):  vs #8 Bishop Brossart and vs Ballard at Bellevue

10. Walton-Verona (2-1 / 2-1 this week):  at Lloyd and at Gallatin County

========================================================

*  NewCath (2-1 / 2-1):  vs Campbell County, at Oldenburg Academy (IN), and vs St. Henry at Hoosier Gym

*  St. Henry (2-1 / 2-1):  at Beechwood, vs Simon Kenton, vs Pendleton County, and vs NewCath at Hoosier Gym

*  Conner (0-2 / 0-2):  vs Dunbar at Great Crossing

*  Scott (1-2 / 1-2):  vs Bracken County, at Lloyd, and vs Highlands at Bellevue

*  Ludlow (2-1 / 2-1):  at Oldham County, at Newport, and vs Oldham County at Bellevue

*  Grant County (0-3 / 0-3):  at Scott County

*  Lloyd (1-3 / 1-3):  vs Walton Verona and vs Scott at Dayton

Game of the year in the 35th District tonight, as Holy Cross travels up the hill to Notre Dame.  Since 1998, this is the 3rd earliest this intra-district rivalry has been played, and also in that same span, Holy Cross has NEVER won a December game against the paNDAs (0-4).  I don't expect that trend changes tonight, but I do think the game will be highly competitive, and a lot of fun.  I expect we'll see an OUTSTANDING crew on the game as well, to keep any nonsense to a minimum.  Should be fun.

Ugh, I don't love that you called out the December stat:)...I am less confident for the PaNDAs, will be interesting to see how they handle the HC pressure.

Should be a very hotly contested game as it always is between these two great schools. If I calculated it correctly "Double Deuce" also since 1998, Notre Dame leads winning 28 times with Holy Cross winning 20. If you can't make it out to this game in person in Park Hills, you can catch the game on Holy Cross Radio starting approx. 7:15 pm.

HC Radio does a great job, Terry Niehaus and Coach Trame are terrific on the call, what a great option if you can't make it to Park Hills.

Big game tonight in NKY, with Bishop Brossart traveling to Edgewood to take on Dixie.  Brossart has had a great start to the season, Dixie has had a lot to overcome, and don't appear to be hitting their stride yet, but could that start tonight at home vs. the Lady Stangs?

Should be a fun one!  Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates and allows it to be played as planned.
