I don't know what Boone is coaching over there but I guarantee it can't be what Boone's players put out on the field. If you watch Lloyd's second kickoff there is a player for Boone's return team on the very bottom of the screen, closest to Lloyd's sideline, in the front row...that literally once the ball is kicked WALKS!!! off the field without even thinking about ever touching a Lloyd player while his teammate proceeds to get sloshed inside the 5 yard line.....????????

On a serious note....both of these guys have helped shape countless kids lives in Erlanger/Elsmere for the better and football just happened to play a huge part in it. Salutes to both of them!

@DRKARK I told you not to feel sorry for what them Juggs were going to do to the Rebels but....after Boone had like a 7 yard punt on their first possession opening the game, Avery Conrad running straight through Boone's linebacker on Lloyd's first offensive play for a TD and then Boone's returner getting whiplash at about the 3 yard line on the ensuing kickoff....I began to feel sad for Boone. I felt sad for them because all the eye in the sky projected was that Boone was scared to death.

I agree! Not really given it a whole lot of thought just yet, but I do know that Lloyd had a few mistakes last night. Especially in the penalty area.

I also noticed late in the game, the starting running back was still in the game and when he did not get the ball or if it was a pass play, he stood there and watched Lloyd Defense go right by him. I’m sure when the coaches watch the film, they are not going to be happy with him. ? ?

That's where the gap is in these programs and why Boone is behind or peddling with programs that should be below them. From what Lloyd puts on film, they have too much respect for themselves, their coaches, their family and their community to ever let themselves be recorded giving an effort like some of the Boone kids did.

I know Jimbo would have made them hit the "pine tree" until they couldn't move their legs anymore.

That is unreal what I just read. How do you walk on a kickoff?

Boone County is 4-6. That's tied with the 2021 season for the best regular season record the Rebels have had in 24 years. And even if you wanna tell these 15 and 16 and 17 year old kids that "Hey, chin up, your losing record is the best we've had in a quarter-century," then you've also gotta look at the fact that this was the 3rd game in a row where the kids on Boone's team have had a running-clock hung on them, and the 5th time this season that they've been running-clocked.

Kids playing football at Boone County haven't lived long enough to know a time when their football team wasn't getting boat-raced game after game, season after season. They're used to being kicked while they're down. Anyone who says they don't see the problem with all of the running clock wins on the KHSAA Scoreboard week after week need look no further to understand what the problem is.

The fact that the kids at Boone County make it through their football team's winter program, summer conditioning and practice, and then beatdown after beatdown during the season is a testament to how hard they're willing to work and how determined they are. Frankly speaking, having the determination to go through all of that just to have 5 running-clock losses and a losing season overall takes a LOT more determination than anything being asked of any of the kids at Cov Cath, Beechwood, Highlands, Boyle County, and Trinity. Chances are at some point the Boone kids who were mentioned in the last few posts are gonna eventually look back and realize that "Hey, 16 or 17 year old me probably could have worked harder during that game, and I wish I had." But I can tell you, for sure, I'm not about to cast any stones regarding the effort they've put out for the football team.

Lloyd looks very good. I don't think this coaching staff gets enough credit.  Who will be their main competition in 3A.

I agree Lloyd has a solid, experienced coaching staff that deserves a lot of credit.

On the competition, here are the latest TP94 Power Ratings for 3A:

Christian Academy - Lou.    90.71
Bell County    60.63
Murray         58.89
Lexington Catholic    58.73
Glasgow         56.38
Lloyd Memorial    52.19
Lawrence County    51.61
Rockcastle County    47.59

You know that’s right! He was firm, but he was fair.

I did say I know Boone's coaches are not coaching that effort that was put out by some. Boone has a nice roster. I know first hand for sure there are kids at Boone doing things right. I have said for a long time in personal discussions that Boone is better than what their records show, been laughed at for saying it and still stood on my words and then laughed at again. I have campaigned for good student athletes to go to school at Boone because they can definitely get a good education there and I have been berated for it.  But I also know stuff going on behind the scenes away from football/basketball that is going on at Boone that is contributing to their downs and what I believe leads to kids tapping out when it gets tough or even before it gets tough.

Until the kids start holding each other accountable there will be no real change in Boone County athletics. Until they believe they are their brother's keeper there will be no change and even when they really start holding each other accountable and having their brother's backs they will not see a sizeable difference for multiple years but atleast it will lay a foundation for the kids coming up behind them and that's what they need to realize. Lloyd's been through this and the kids many years ago decided they were all going to buy into being " different " and now they reap some of the rewards of what happens when the classes in front of them did things right even away from what pertained to football. Forget about Lloyd being 10-0. Lloyd could be 2-8, 3-7, 4-6 just as easy as Boone County, they've been there obviously. Lloyd has no 5 star-4 star-3 star-2 star-1 star athletes. The athletes aren't the difference between Lloyd and Boone County, it's the culture.

Calling out what is put on a live stream is not casting stones, it's calling out what effort was decided to be broadcasted. If Lloyd had kids walking on a kickoff while their brother was getting dropped at the 3 yard line I would have called them out for it win or lose but usually you lose when stuff like that is going on.

As far as the KHSAA and running clocks go I agree. But this game pertains to that 0%. These two teams signed up to play each other, they were not forced to. And I hope Boone signs up for it again next year to try and get their lick back. That takes guts. I think Boone's coaching staff believes in their student athletes and is trying to give them the best shot to succeed in life in general. The kids need to do that also or go play a sport where someone else's livelihood doesn't depend on maximum effort from everyone involved.
