Question about PA announcers

I was at Morehead a couple of weeks ago for the college game and the announcer did every first down and a lady in the stands banged a gong when he did it. That was a bit much!!  So it not only happens at the high school level but college level

Very common at college games to do the first down and third down to get the crowd going. At UofL games announcer always says... and that's good for another Cards first down and the crowd chants it too.

In 30 years in High School Football, my favorite statement by a PA announcer...

Team A punts the ball.  Team B fair catches the ball.  PA announcer with every bit of the excitement of a Super Bowl says, "And that is an Automatic Team B FIRST DOWN!!!"

I guess he is right lol

I don't mind a homer announcer.  That's part of playing on the road, especially in the playoffs.  I've heard many fans and coaches say, "I hate playing there.". Credit to that program.  The sound of the crazy announcer, milk gallons filled with pennies or  crazy student sections can be quite intimidating for a bunch of teenage kids.  Gotta love Friday night lights.
