Now the season gets real and can come to an end very quickly.  After this week 5 teams in the 9th Region will see their season end.

33rd District

• Conner vs Boone - Going with my Cougars in a tight battle
• Ryle vs Cooper - Going with the Jaguars on this one...just a bad matchup for the Raiders

34th District

• St. Henry vs Villa Madonna - just a couple of weeks ago this was a 1-0 win for St. Henry.  Do the Vikings pack it in and go to PK's?
• Dixie Heights await the winner

35th District

• Covington Catholic vs Holy Cross - Cov Cath walks away with the win
• Beechwood vs Holmes - The Tigers get the win

36th

• Highlands vs Newport Central Catholic - Highlands wins and look to make a deep run in the regional

 

Did I hear correctly that Regionals is being held at Holmes??

I agree with your assessment in the 8 you have moving forward.  
 

The only game I think in question will be the Cooper v Ryle game.  Not impressed with Cooper the other week when we played them…. But it looks like Ryle has totally fallen apart. 
 

Just to be different I’ll go with Ryle winning against Cooper

I think this is the most wide open field in Regionals but I’ll hold my more in depth thoughts until next Monday when the field and bracket are set.

Cooper is up 2 to 0 at half versus Rye.

Yes...Regions are at Holmes this year.

36th District Champs!!!

Highlands scored 2 quick goals in the first 4 minutes of the game to take a 2-0 early lead.  Then capped off the half with a late one with 7 minutes to go to go into halftime 3-0.  
 

NCC got one early in the 2nd half but Highlands quickly erased that momentum with one themselves a minute later to make the score 4-1, with 32 minutes remaining in game.  Cruise control the rest of the way.

Final 4-1!!

Dixie wins a thriller on Donaldson Pike. I wasn’t there but heard it had everything. PK’s, red cards, extra time, penalty shootout. 
 

The Colonels win in PK shootout and will now play a home game vs a district runner up on Monday @ Dixie. 

34th District Champions: Dixie Colonels

The Dixie-St. Henry was a battle!! To start, Tyler Bolte, a stalwart senior midfielder was on crutches, a big loss for the Colonels. Game went back and forth. Dixie opened the scoring in the first half but a little later a St. Henry strike in the box appeared to be a score when a Dixie defender cleared it away with his arm, resulting in a PK, which was successful, tying the game at 1-1. This also resulted in a red card dismissal for  the defender and Dixie played the remainder of the game with 10 players.

However, St. could not take advantage being a man up through remainder of regulation and 2 five minute periods of extra time. With the score tied after the initial 5 rounds of PK's, the Dixie keeper stopped the Crusader 6th attempt, followed by the the final Dixie player connecting for the Colonel victory. Congratulations to both teams on a a hard fought effort and best of luck in the upcoming regional tournament!!

 

Cooper wins the 33rd District in over time with the golden boot score off a throw in. Conner has a huge injury with Grady Noble early in the 1st half that took him out and will be out probably for a while. 
 

Congratulations to the Jag-u-ars, they battled all night.  

Heard Noble’s injury was really bad, speedy recovery young man…. Prayers to him!!
