In a game that was in a running clock before halftime the Danville Admirals (6-1, 2-0) guarantee themselves their first winning season since 2021, notching an RPI win at home against 6A Louisville Southern (1-5).  The game started with a good number of penalties on each side.  Southern was having some difficulties getting lined up, flagged for many delay of game penalties.  Jayvion Meaux scored two touchdowns in a game where it seemed like the Admirals were trying to lighten his load.  He also went over 1,000 yards on the season.  Trinden Sellers notched another score on special teams with a punt return.  Quarterback Dillion Cruver threw a touchdown pass to J'Kaivin Walker and other scores happened on the ground by Braiden Ford and Saivon Johnson.

In a good piece of news for the Ads, they are fixing the extra point kicking game.  Senior Eduardo Cisneros went six-for-six on those attempts tonight.

Next week the Admirals return to district play, facing W.E.B. Du Bois (3-4, 1-1) next week at home.  The Admirals need to win that to set up a district title game with LCA the following week on October 17.  Southern will visit Male (3-2 going into tonight) to start its district games.

 

 

I couldn’t be happier for Danville and its fans/supporters with how tough things had been. Just shows what change can do. Congratulations to Danville on winning impressively also.

Congrats to Danville and I cannot wait until they play LCA...again congratulations. I remember those years and good games against Mayfield back in the day...

The LCA game will be a good measuring stick for the Admirals and will highlight the areas this team still needs to improve upon in the years ahead.  Obviously LCA will be heavily favored (and rightfully so) but I hope that in a few years that series of games can become a competitive rivalry again as they were some of my favorite games to attend as a fan in the 2010s.
