⚫?? | Johnson Central imposed its will on Pond Creek. In a matchup of teams with reputations built on moving piles, speed took center stage, highlighted by Braxton Perry's 74 yard sideline sprint to the endzone in the 3Q. Turnovers (including on downs) also plagued Belfry, most notably the strip sack of Chase Varney that resulted in a recovery in the Pirate end zone.

? | 51 rushes for 356 yards, led by Perry's 172 & 2 TDs. Logan Music may have also hit the century mark. 0/1 on pass attempts 

☠️ | 32 rushes for 196 yards, led by Dante Davis' 114 and two scores - 10/20 passing for 116 yards, led by Ace Caudill's 74 receiving yards and 1 TD 

Not much more to say than the above.  These two traded body blows for quite a while and went punch for punch, but JC got in a couple knockdowns and the Pirates never could really get back in it.  Field position was huge thanks to special teams.  Turnovers at crucial times hurt Belfry and JC capitalized on them.  The Eagles went to power football in the 2nd half, especially after getting up by a couple scores and that proved too much for Belfry as they couldn't consistently stop the ground game.  The Eagles' team speed was impressive, and they really neutralized Belfry's efforts to get to the edge.  

Hated to see Dalton Matney with injury.  He left the game, came back, then left again.  Not sure of the nature of it, but I hope he is ok.

Unfortunately I think Belfry is clearly the 5th best team in 2A.

The defense had some optimism after shutting out Louisville Central but as I stated in that thread, Central just really is struggling on offense and it is more of an indictment on them that it is a praise of Belfry's defense. Louisville Central only scored 6 points against a pretty mediocre Butler team.

Belfry has speed and big play ability on Offense, but as we stand right now I am not convinced their defense has fixed any of their weaknesses from the past two seasons.

Just like last season, Belfry's Achilles' Heel is their defense really struggles to win in the Front 7 against teams who can run the ball and force their LB's and Ends to get off blocks and make sure tackles. Offensively Belfry will have success every game but they are prone to turning it over or self inflicted wounds. To date both trends seem to continue.

I don't think there is a team from 6 down on the same level as Belfry, but I struggle to see them ready to beat multiple teams in successive weeks when you talk about Beechwood, Mayfield, OCath, and LCA.
