Things you just don’t do

LLWS South Regional final.  Florida cruising 4-0 over South Carolina, bottom of the 6th. FL starter hit his pitch count. Reliever is struggling with control, SC loads the bases and scores one.  Bases still loaded.  Mistake number one, FL intentionally walks SC’s best hitter.  4-2 with the winning run on first.  2 outs, SC’s second best hitter lines one way over the left fielder’s head (mistake number two, playing shallow).  SC wins a game they had no business winning and advances to Williamsport.

Not long before, the SC manager did something you rarely see with 12 year olds.   Chewed them out and told them to grow up, shed  the bad body language. Get this guy out and score some runs.

With the help from the opposing manager, they did just that.

If my kid is 12 and playing at a national level I expect the coaches to be hard on the team at select times.

I’m with you. Although I think I heard the kid that hit the game winner say that the thing he looked forward to in Williamsport was the grab bags.

And this Florida team was the defending champions.
