Rob Sanders - Bellevue High School retires from coaching

What a phenomenal career as a head baseball coach Coach Sanders had!

I don't know specific W/L (and really don't care).  He put together a program that, for an extremely small school, was very competitive with large schools especially in the 2012-2018 range.  Consistently beating the bigger schools.  More importantly the impact he has had on his players in life and the true gentleman that he is is what earned him the ultimate respect.  I will never forget sitting and watching a Bellevue vs Highlands game during that stretch run in late May one year.  This was for the district #1 seed.    Also a  year Highlands won the region.   Bellevue took them into extra innings, I believe, ending up losing 1-0 when the Bellevue starting pitcher reached the maximum pitches and had to come out.

I know when he took over the program at Bellevue it was in disarray.  Regardless of talent level, you know his teams were taught the game correctly and would give you a run for your money!

Congrats on a wonderful career Coach Sanders!

Congrats Coach Sanders and thank you for your service.

I know Coach Sanders.  I know how he grew up without all advantages kids have access to today. He never "forgot where he came from".  Yeah, wins and losses are always counted and used as measuring tools but his mentoring of countless numbers of kids, many similar to how he grew up, is the best measuring stick of his success.  Great job Coach!  Enjoy your retirement!

Great all around. Beat my team my freshman year and none of us will ever forget it. Still go to sleep mad about it sometimes. Legend in his own right.
