Varsity game tips at 7:30pm. The game is part of the CCH 100 Year Celebration, and they've invited all Cov Cath basketball alumni back for the game, so it's expected to be a sell-out crowd in Park Hills tonight for Colonels vs. Juggs. Should be a great environment for a really good game!

I'm going to be heading up that way in about 30 minutes.

(8-2) Cov Cath is on a three game win-streak after winning the Riverview Ram Jam Holiday Tournament in Sarasota, FL. Their two losses this year came at the hands of Great Crossing back on Dec 14 in the finals of the Billy Hicks Classic, and then to Ballard on Dec 21 in the Queen City HoopFest at McNick. Great Crossing is currently ranked #3 in Kentucky by KSR, Ballard is at #14, and Cov Cath is at #8.

(9-2) Lloyd Memorial has won their last two, with their last loss taking place in the first round of the Ashland Invitational Tournament to Harlan County on Dec 27, and their previous loss coming at the hands of St. Xavier back on Dec 18 in the King Of The Bluegrass tournament at Fairdale. St. X is currently ranked #1 in Kentucky by KSR, Harlan County is at #20, and Lloyd is at #11.

The Colonels have played their last two games without junior PG Cash Harney, who is still at 3rd in overall scoring for Cov Cath with his 15.0 ppg average. I don't have any info on why he was out for Cov Cath's 2nd round and finals appearances in the Ram Jam Tournament in Florida, but hopefully he's back on the court for the Colonels tonight.

Athens McGillis and Donovan Bradshaw both powered the Cov Cath offensive attack in those two games, with Athens tallying a 34 point game against Buford (GA) in the second round of the Ram Jam, and 23 points in the finals against Livina (FL). He is currently averaging 22.8 ppg, and Bradshaw is currently averaging 15.5 ppg.

Harney is out warming up with the varsity team. Evidently he ended up coming down hard on his tailbone in a fall during the game against Ballard back on Dec 21. He played in the following game in the opening round of the Ram Jam Tournament in Florida but was really sore, so they took him out and sat him for the next two games.
