Plus, I've included a food spot for each game to make your visits even better.

Wednesday, December 4th

Kick off your season by watching Montgomery County face off against Great Crossing. This game features a leading contender from the 10th region (even if they might not be at full strength this early) going up against a top-ranked boys team and University of Kentucky signee Malachi Moreno.

Travel early and treat yourself to a delicious beer-cheese burger at Favas 1910 Diner—you'll thank me later.

Thursday, December 5th

Make your way to Winchester to catch the Campbell County Camels as they take on GRC. Their last encounter on March 11th in Mason County ended with the Camels stopping GRC’s bid for another 10th region title. This matchup promises to be an exciting early-season challenge for both teams.

Don’t forget to stop by Engine House Pizza Pub for some fantastic pizza and craft brews.

Tuesday, December 10th

Experience the excitement of a thrilling matchup between two of the smallest schools in the 10th region. Journey to Mt. Olivet to witness Robertson County face off against St. Patrick. These teams clashed three times last year, with each securing a victory in their last two encounters, separated by a mere five points in total.

As you make your way down the AA to Route 62, be sure to stop by Tater's Tavern for a quick break.

Friday, December 13th

Head over to the charming city of Lexington, KY, where Harrison County will face off against Lexington Christian. In the 23-24 season, the Eagles defeated Harrison County in a thrilling overtime match in Cynthiana. Harrison County is eager to make the trip back and seek redemption for that home defeat.

For dinner, Pasquale's is the place to be.

Saturday, January 4th

If you haven't experienced the intense annual rivalry between Bishop Brossart and Campbell County at Campbell County Middle School, you are missing out. The game takes place at CCMS due to its larger capacity, ensuring that fans can fill every corner, often leaving no room to stand by the time the game starts. Regardless of the teams' standings, expect a fierce showdown that will likely come down to the wire in the final quarter.

Before heading to the game, make sure to stop by Empress Chili for their delicious chili cheese pizza.

Tuesday, January 7th

We frequently overlook the thrilling matchups that small schools can offer. Calvary Christian and Heritage Academy, two modest private institutions in the NKY region, consistently deliver intense and closely fought games. This matchup will take place at Heritage Academy, starting at 7:30 PM.

Saturday, January 11th

The action returns to Robertson County for three back-to-back games in the opening round of the 10th region All-A tournament. The matchups include Bracken County versus Paris, Calvary Christian against Nicholas County, and Augusta facing St. Patrick, with the first game tipping off at 12:30 PM.

Make sure to stop by Tater's on your way and explore a new dish you missed during your last visit!

Friday, January 17th

Carlisle, KY is calling all basketball fans to Nicholas County High School for an exciting showdown against Pendleton County. Last year, these teams clashed three times, with the Wildcats emerging victorious in two of those encounters, including a nail-biting first round of the 38th district tournament. A trip to Pendleton County isn't complete without a stop at the Smoking Pig Tavern; it's an experience you won't want to miss.

Saturday, February 1st

The Campbell County versus Pendleton County game may not have been the most competitive in recent years, but the significance lies in the venue this year. Fans will travel along I-74 to Knightstown, Indiana, where the Camels and Wildcats will face off in the iconic Hoosiers Gym.

Don't forget to stop by the Frosty Boy Restaurant for a delicious burger and soda. Just remember you will have to place your order at the window and enjoy your meal from the comfort of your car, so make sure to plan ahead.

Villa Madonna's gym is worth a visit, featuring impressive floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a stunning view of the nearby lake, situated behind the teams' benches and the scorers' table, opposite the bleachers. On this date, the Bracken County Polar Bears will travel to face the Vikings, making it an event not to be missed.

When near Villa Madonna, you can reach PeeWee's Place in approximately ten minutes. While I cannot recommend a specific dish, I can assure you that everything I have tried there has been excellent. Consider trying a sampler platter or a similar option.

Tuesday, February 18th

Conclude your regular season by going to Cynthiana to witness Harrison County face off against 10th region royalty when they play Mason County…… Royals (ba-dum-dsssh). These teams met twice in the final month of last season, with Mason County narrowly winning the first encounter by 2 points, while Harrison County eliminated the Royals in the 10th region tournament during their second matchup. This upcoming game promises to be exciting.

A visit to Cynthiana is incomplete without stopping by Biancke's. Regardless of your dinner choice, make sure to indulge in pie for dessert.

I appreciate all of the feedback here, Cat… lol just playing.

It could be… 10th is all over the place at the moment but the 10th is a goofy animal. Those top-5 are almost always the top-5 in some order when March rolls around.

GRC simply reloads, MoCo and Mason have had some big names moving in and out, and Garyn Jackson returning will keep Campbell in the top handful of teams in the region but they graduated just about everyone else.

Where do you have this shaking out in the preseason?

Something else for us to gnaw on while we wait on meaningful games to start. Below is each 10th region boys coach, listed by winning percentage (at their current stop). Some things that blew me away. We have more new(er) coaches in the region that I ever remember. Also, only 4 coaches with winning percentages over .500 blew my mind!

1. Josh Cook- GRC- Coach Cook is an impressive 192 and 41, good for a .824 winning percentage. He has 6 district titles, 3 regional titles, and a state title to his name.

2. Brent Sowder- Campbell Co.- Coach Sowder exceeded expectations in his first year leading the Camels and holds a 27 and 7 record and a .794 winning percentage. Sowder's group won both their district and region last year.

3. Brian Kirk- Mason Co.- Coach Kirk is 126 and 56 in his time leading the Royals. His winning percentage stands at .692 and he has won 6 district titles.

4. Jason Hinson- Augusta- Coach Hinson has 77 victories and pairs them with 66 losses, good for a .539 winning percentage.

5. Steve Fromeyer- Scott- Coach Fromeyer has amassed a 121 and 125 record, good for a .492 winning percentage. Coach Fromeyer has a regional champion trophy as well.

6. Mason Monroe- Pendleton Co.- Coach Monroe went 15 and 18 in his inaugural season, good for a .454 winning percentage.

7. Shawn Ransom- Paris- Coach Ransom has gone 24 and 33 leading Paris. His winning percentage is .421.

8. Ben Mulling- Calvary Christian- Coach Mulling went 12 and 19 in his first season leading the Cougars. He sports a .387 winning percentage.

9. Terry King- Bracken Co.- Coach King was a new coach at Bracken Co. last year where the Polar Bears went 11 and 20, good for a .354 winning percentage.

10. Jason Mays- Montgomery Co.- Coach Mays came over after a successful stint at Ashland. His first year leading the Indians resulted in 11 wins and 18 losses, which equates for a .340 winning percentage.

11. Ben Franzen- Bishop Brossart- Coach Franzen is entering his third season leading the Mustangs and will do so sporting 16 wins and 42 losses. Coach Franzen has a .275 winning percentage.

12. Tony Moore- St. Patrick- Coach Moore has patrolled the sidelines for a handful of years now at St. Pat's. He sports an 11 and 89 record to go along with a .111 winning percentage.

13. Brandon Hinson- Robertson Co.- Last season was Hinson's first patrolling the sideline for Robertson Co. They finished 3 and 27, good for a .100 winning percentage.

Bourbon Co., Harrison Co. and Nicholas Co. will each have new coaches this year.  Allen Martin will lead Bourbon, Andrew Case will lead Harrison, and Spencer Morris will lead Nicholas Co.
