I don’t know much about Basketball, but I like to try to give an opinion on occasion.

SK is no doubt peaking right now and playing by far their best ball. Boone took them lightly and got stunned. It may be safe to say that Shelby may have taken them lightly as well since beating them so badly a month ago having them down by as much as 30. A couple of things jump out at me. SK is very vulnerable to pressure. Boone pressed them early and had a near double-digit lead before pulling out to protect girls from early foul trouble. Two key BC starters fouled out early in the 4th qtr which left them down 3 starters (Reed already out due to an injury). BC went back to the press with 3 players (1 fresh/2 soph’s) off their bench and turned a 16pt deficit into a 2pt deficit very quickly with a shot to take the lead on a 3pt attempt that rimmed out. SK showed tremendous poise by sealing it at the foul line. This is a game they would have lost in the past. They have come a long way under Stowers.

I know kids and families from SK very well and would love nothing more than to see two or three NKY teams at Diddle. The entire 9th region should be pulling for them and Brossart to gain some recognition to the area. I’m concerned that SK’s remaining soft schedule will come back to haunt them in the end. They only have 1 good team (Conner) and 1 decent team remaining on their schedule and both games are at home. Anderson & Carroll’s remaining schedule is not real strong either. Shelby County has 6 of their remaining 7 games on the road and 3 are very good (Nelson, Butler, and Henry Clay). Since the tournament is “away” for all four teams, I would have to think Shelby has the edge. IMO, playing Shelby a second time this season may have hurt SK and beating BC & SC back-to-back puts them on everyone's radar.

Keep playing with heart Pioneers! Keep your blinders on and ignore the hype that is headed your way. It hurts so many teams.

You are so right about not knowing much about bball, at least you have enough common sense to admit it(HAHA).

Great post, saved me alot of time as I too know little about the game but like to put in my two cents also.

That could also ruin their (Shelby) confidence by dropping 2 or 3 of those games.

Absolutely agree and you are dead-on. It's why I said I don't know much about Bball.

InDaZone: I believe you to be too modest. By the wording of your post, I can see that you are very knowlegedable about Bball. Just thought I would reveal the other side of the coin.

welovethisgame, I hear what you are saying , I didn't mean to sound like ND was walking thru every team. I was at the BC/ND game and both of those games could have went either way. BC could certainly win the 9th region. I also believe Conner and NCC could easily pull off an upset come tournament time. My point is I believe SK and ND are playing the best bball right now and I would like to see a rematch.

I also agree with INDAZone, Coach Stowers is doing an excellent job! I also agree that Smith doesn't get the recognition she deserves. For those of us who know her the best , we can tell you she isn't playing her best ball, but she is playing very well. At Div.1 aau nationals Smith averaged a double-double while playing against NY Silver Bullets, Arkansas Mavericks, Ga. Panthers, Indianas Finest (the team that finished 5th). For the aau season about 70 games she was one point per game from averaging a double-double for the entire season! The girl can play! Keep up the good work Smith! Smith also has recieved 4 letters from D1 schools that I personally know of. I believe with Figs out Smith will have to be more utilized and she will really begin to shine now

You must be right about Smith not getting any recognition, who is she and what # is she?

She is a 6'1" sophmore for Simon Kenton. #33. Very nice girl. Great player.

Don't let those D1 letters go to your head everyone gets them from somewhere! Keep working hard so when you become a Sr then the D1 letters will mean something.
