Bishop Brossart 39 Bellevue 12

Final.

Sounds about how I expected it to go. I figured Bellevue would challenge some and that Brossart would win more easily later into the game.

The Bellevue Tigers were gritty and came to play.

Brossart scored first,  but with only 3 ticks left on the clock in the first quarter.  We tacked on a 29 yard filed-goal early in the second period, giving us a 10-0 lead with just over 5 minutes remaining in the half.  Bellevue answered with 2:31 remaining in the half, closing the gap to 10-6 at intermission.

Just when we thought it was safe to light up the victory cigar, after scoring a Cam Mandel touchdown and Runge PAT, making it 18-6, the Tigers extinguished those thoughts running back the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, and that quickly it was 18-12.  The Tigers failed on both 2-point conversion attempts.

Brossart put seven more on the board at the end of the third stanza, reopening the lead to 25-12.  This time the lead would stand up, as we added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter, making the final score 39-12.

Two new school record were set in this game.  Tyler Holtz became the new "Most Touchdown Passes in a Season" mark with 25 of them, and Cam Mandel became the new "Most Rushing Touchdowns in a Single Season" record-holder with 15.

Brossart moves on to face NCC next Friday night at a site to be determined, while the Bellevue Tigers close out the season at 5 wins and 5 losses.
