The Broncos of Frederick Douglass (5-3) travel up I-64 for the short trip to Winchester to take on the Cardinals of George Rogers Clark (4-4) in a 6A district 8 matchup. Both teams are coming off wins this past weekend. The Cardinals defeated a good Madison Central team on Friday 27-15. The Broncos had a big win over city rival Bryan Station 24-6.

The Broncos offense bodes a strong running game with 4 excellent runners in Peyton Smith, Pharo Watts, Tay Tay Allen, and Dakari Talbert. The Bronco running game racked up 275 yards on Saturday vs. a very good Bryan Station Defender defense. The Broncos defense is starting to buckle down as well.

The Cardinals got back in the win column this week after losing 3 straight to some good teams in Pikeville, Ballard, and Bryan Station. The Cardinals are led by QB JD Mastin who has threw for almost 1000 yards this season. Also running back Zaydin Turner who has rushed for over 500 yards this season.

This will be the 2nd meeting between the two teams with Douglass winning last season at Lexington 50-6. I look for the Broncos to roll again this season. Douglass needs to cut out the interceptions and penalties and get a lot sharper going into their final game at Boyle Co. As of this time I am not sure if there will be any streaming of this game will update when I here. I say Douglass wins by 25+.

I think the offense is looking better as well I think in talking with Coach they are as about as healthy as they have been since early July. I also like how Strautman has played. He seems to be playing more within himself to me and not trying to do too much or make the perfect throw. I like what I have seen so far and we will need this and more next week.

My goodness this 20 minute halftime GRC is doing is way too long for a high school halftime especially if they put 3 more minutes up!
