Union County Braves (3A #5) | Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons (5A #10)

Player Spotlight

UC: Jarren Johnson (QB) - 2,091 rushing yards and 33 TDs | Kamden Davis (DL) - 100 tackles and 11 sacks

MNH: Kanyon Johnson (QB) - 3,212 yards of total offense and 34 TDs | Markezz Hightower (RB) - 1,500 yards from scrimmage and 23 TDs

Series History: MNH leads 11-8 since 1998 | UC has won the last three

Preview: Lost in the wash of a grand slate of Week 1 games, is this potential hidden gem tucked away in Madisonville.

The Maroons and visiting Braves look to take the next step from successful 2023 campaigns.

For MNH to build on last year's highs - namely the track meet victory over Owensboro - a supporting cast needs to emerge to supplement the dynamic backfield of Johnson and Hightower, one of the state's premier QB/RB tandems.

Union County rides into town on the legs of its own backfield duo with hopes of surpassing last season's 11 wins and region final appearance. Jarren Johnson eclipsed 2k rushing yards last year, with Willem McPeake chipping in a thousand himself.

Johnson ran for over 200 and all three UC scores in last year's 21-14 win over the Maroons.

The winner here sets themselves up for a potential lengthy win steak going forward. MNH shouldn't be challenged again till Graves County in Week 6, and this could springboard Union County to an unbeaten regular season.

Give me MNH I think they are just a little better passing team.

I agree Devil, I even looked over it myself but it has the potential of being a very good one. Curious to see if the Maroons can slow Johnson down this time around.
