Game game moved to today at 3:30 or 20 minutes after girls game.  Thoughts on the game.

Boyle County is ranked #121 in the Massey ratings with a strength of schedule of 51.  Danville is ranked #177 with a strength of schedule of 115.  Based on that information it looks like Boyle would be the clear cut favorite.

I saw both of them in their games against DCA and they both struggled to score against DCA's defense but that's not uncommon this year, DCA's defense is very good.  Boyle played much better defense against DCA than Danville did.  Boyle's guards are capable of playing good perimeter defense and Danville doesn't bring much of an inside game on offense.  I'd say Boyle wins by at least 10.

Danville comes into this game with a 3-12 record, most recently beating Garrard and losing to Somerset by 27. Paige is their best player, averaging 18 PPG. It will be interesting to see what he can do against an athletic Boyle backcourt, and whether he can get enough help to give the Ads a chance.

Boyle enters the game at 5-11, on the heels of losses at East Jessamine by 20 and at home to Lincoln. For all of the talk about Boyle’s shooting woes, Brown has shot the ball well. He’s shooting 45% & 37% from three, and had 27 in their last game against Lincoln. I think he has become Boyle’s best player and I look for him to have a big game against his former team.

From a talent standpoint, I feel like this should be an easy win for Boyle.  I’ll go with Boyle by 20+.

If the Boyle team that hits 10+ 3’s out of their half court offense shows up they win this game easy like they did the Wayne game. If not it could be a struggle. Danville is athletic and long enough to give them trouble at the rim. Danville can’t turn the ball over and give Boyle easy transition buckets and Paige has to play very well for them to have a chance.

They’ve done that once in 16 games so that is highly unlikely. But I don’t think they have to make threes to beat Danville. The danger could be that they take too many and shoot that low percentage. But they should win this one comfortably with never shooting a three.

The game is being broadcast on NFHS if anyone is interested.

Boyle won 60-40.
