Great Crossing 48 Newport 46 (2023 KOB)

Featured Replies

Final Vince Dawson hits game winning 3 with 10 seconds remaining.

Probably not the best person to comment, but this was an exciting game to watch (NFHS).  Newport fought from as many as 10/11(?) down to finally take the lead late and we’re up by 1 with less than 90 secs left.  With GC only committing two 4th quarter fouls, Newport had to inbounds against a vigorous trapping/fouling defense.  GC committed immediate 3rd and 4th fouls on contested inbound plays, but on the final inbounds they were able to trap Newport deep in the corner resulting in a turnover and quick 3 point game winner.  This game was like a heavyweight title match and one I would suspect the Wildcats gained valuable late game experience.
