Coach Matthew Perry had a nice string of winning seasons going at Morgan County and this year it seems that the Cougars have fallen on hard times. I know that every school goes through their share of ups and downs, but if you have a program it should continue to succeed. I really loved watching his teams of the past few years, from the teams that included the Perry brothers to watching a young Blake McCowan develop into a top notch player in the Sixteenth Region. I wish the Coug's and my friends in West Liberty the best and I hope things can turn around. I already miss those classic battles between MC and Rowan Co.:fight:

Yep, I know they are "rebuilding" and lost a lot to graduation. But I just expected them to eventually pull together and make a run this year. With the 16th the way it is, nothing would surprise me, but they will likely return to form next year.

Teams have ups and downs, you guys know the deal. Dont look for Morgan to be out too long. Some just stay out longer than others. Some build teams like the egyptians built the pyramids, over decades!

The Chicago Cubs are like the egyptians, just a few more decades and they will be all ready! : )

Let us not forget that Morgan County not only lost some very nice players from last year, they also lost a tremendous Assistant Coach as well.

Yes, I agree it takes time to build a program and I was happy to see Matthew stay a few years back when he could've left. Nothing but the best to the Coug Nation and here's to an improving season and better days ahead.

Perry is a good coach and they will be competitive again. We should remember that great players make great coaches and Morgan County is a little lean in the talent area this year. That won't last.

whats the cougs record?

I just got through looking at their schedule. Its a pretty tough schedule. They may suprise somebody this year when they are not so overwhelmed with a tough team. They have some real quality wins in there.

Coach Perry told me, he needs a consistent scorer to step up and they will, just takes a little time to replace the '06 graduates.

 

He'll have them competing and playing hard, each night. Super bunch of people, associated with this program, from players, coaches and fans.

Great to hear that small schools can still have all of those things.
