Colts And Chargers Coming Down The Stretch With District Crown In Sight

Records: DeSales (5-2) | J-Town (7-0)

Week 8 Results: Both had a bye week

Series History: DeSales leads 1-0 dating back to 1998

Preview: Two of the best feel good stories in and around the Jefferson County scene this year will cross paths just beyond the Louisville border in Jeffersontown.

The host Chargers are in the midst of a dream season, unbeaten but hungry for more.

Raymond Cornish and Kaden Ruff pace the offense. Cornish has thrown 16 touchdown passes against a single interception, while Ruff is running the ball at a clip of 11.3 per carry and closing in on a thousand yard season.

Kentayvion Sherley and Camron McDaniels bring the heat defensively, with a combined 25 tackles for loss and eleven sacks. That side of the ball allows 11 points per game, third best in 4A.

Coach Mike Jackson's rebuild at DeSales has them just two possessions away from being unbeaten themselves.

Quarterback Peyton Molter ranks third in 4A in both passing yards and touchdowns. DaVon Martin and Broderick Price are his top receivers and both excel in other facets. Martin is one of the top kick returners in the class, with three house calls on punt returns. And Price has picked off four passes this year from his secondary spot, taking two back for scores.

The Colts are on the road back after falling from grace. The Chargers are chasing perfection. The crossroads can be found in J-Town this Thursday night.

Biggest game of the Thursday night slate right here.

DeSales and J-Town both went 0-10 last year and combined to go 3-39 in '21 and '22.

Tomorrow night, they'll play for the district driver's seat.

7-6 as Jtown two point conversation was no good. Still in the first half.

DeSales leads 7-6, midway through the 2Q.

The Colts scored first on a touchdown pass from Molter to Martin. J-Town got on the board with a pick-six, but failed on the two point conversion.

Just beat me to it.

Halftime

DeSales 14

Jeffersontown 6

The Colts tacked on a score at the end of the first half to extend their lead.

DeSales up 21-6

The COlts are much improved! Had a feeling about this one. J'town hadn't played the toughest competition.

Cornish and Ruff hook up for a long touchdown to pull the Chargers within nine at 21-12. J-Town's lack of a kicking game has set them back right now.

Literally zero made extra points this season. All two point attempts after touchdowns for J-Town.

Another long touchdown pass and subsequent missed two point conversion by J-Town makes it 21-18 DeSales.

J-Town recovers a bad punt snap in DeSales territory and has a look at the game winning score, but the Colts deny them at the goal line.

Final. Desales wins, 21-18.
