? The Eagles (1A) win big at home vs. the Marshals (5A) yesterday in Bardstown.

Really nice numbers by the offense:

QB Nicholas Osborne threw for 189 yds. and four TDs, ran for another among his 104 yards rushing. He had two solo tackles as a DB too. Have yourself a game there youngster!

WR Isaiah Ballard had 144 receiving yards and caught two Osborne TD strikes.

RB Martavious Smith ran for 169 yds. and two TDs.

Will this win, coupled with losses by #8 Hazard and #10 Covington Holy Cross vault Bethlehem into BGP's 1A Top 10?

Made the trip to bardstown to see this one.  ( I am a Marshall Co Alum from the 90s)    All I can say is that Marshall Co is going to have a very LONG season.   I am not sure there are 2 wins on the schedule.   The Marshals had great success under Jim Shelton and Mike Lawson.  Those days seem very far removed from the current situation.

Bethlehem has played very good football over the last 4 years, with 8 wins, 6 wins, 11 wins, and 8 wins last year.   (the 6 win season was the COVID year - 2020 - when they went 6-3).    They've beat 6A, 4A, and 3A teams during that span.   Albeit no powerhouses, they defeated teams with much more resources than they have.

...and their success is reflected in their football participation.....according to the KHSAA, the school has 296 students in the total 9-12 enrollment....guessing about 150 boys....and about 41 of the boys are on the football team)   So, it would appear that just over 1 in 4 boys in the school put on the football uniform....there are 6A schools with less participation....

After watching the Eagles friday I was impressed! I look for good things to happen in Btown for the eagles this year!  I know that there was some shuffling, and I expect that who ever takes over the program for next year will be in a place with plenty of support, great facilities and a culture of winning!

Great things in the future!
