Kentucky great “Cotton” Nash passed away

Featured Replies

Big Blue Nation lost one of their all-time greats today. Charles Francis "Cotton" Nash who was 80 years young, passed away.
During his time at Kentucky, Cotton scored 1,770 points, and grabbed 962 rebounds. As a junior, and as a senior, he was the SEC leading scorer. At one time Nash was the all-time leading scorer at Kentucky, until the great Dan Issel passed him. Cotton also held 18 records at the University of Kentucky. He is one of 13 multi-sport athletes to have played in both the NBA, and in MLB.

On playing for Coach Rupp, Cotton said, "There were some players who quit, and did not finish their four years. I was one that liked, and took to his style of coaching, and appreciated it. I, for one, wouldn’t have played for anyone else.”
Cotton Nash was inducted into the State of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as the University of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. His jersey is retired, and hangs from the rafters at Rupp Arena.

It's a shame they don't make them like that today.

Generally, aren't the people who "make them like that today" typically around the same age as Cotton?  The grandparents and parents of today are the ones molding their kids into who they are.  So by saying "It's a shame they don't make them like that today", isn't that basically a slight at the elders of today?

This has always been a pet peeve of mine.  People complaining that kids are soft, or aren't willing to stick around when it comes to todays college landscape.  Who raised those kids?  Who was the most influential voice in their lives growing up?  They are the ones that "don't make them like that today".

Totally agree, and every generation gets softer
