Garrard County has faced a ton of adversity in coach Spencer Crutchfield's first season, starting in the offseason with transfers and into the regular season with injuries. However, the Golden Lions won a huge road game at Rockcastle County on Friday night. Garrard jumped out to a 24-7 lead before Rockcastle scored three times to take a fourth quarter lead. The Golden Lions went down the field with just a couple of minutes left, on the strength of a halfback pass from Malachi Simmons to Cam Peak and then a Simmons touchdown run to take the lead. Garrard's defense then held the Rockets to get their first ever win in Mount Vernon. They'll play at Fleming County in the first round; Rockcastle County will play at Mason County.
