Godfather of Harlem

Featured Replies

Does anyone/has anyone watched this yet? I am 3 episodes in and it is really good so far. Very talented cast led by Forest Whitaker who plays drug kingpin of Harlem Bumpy Johnson. There are many different elements of the show that make it interesting - the African-American music industry, impact of drug abuse, organized crime, racial tensions of the 1960s, Malcom X, etc. If you are looking for something new that is very much based on real historical events, I would highly recommend it.

What service is it on?  I am big Whitaker fan so I want to check this out.

I watch it on Hulu but I believe that is was made by Amazon so I think if you have Prime you should be good to go.

I have both, thank you.

It was great.  I watched it by chance maybe 6+ months ago.  Original network is actually Epix.   I flew through the first two seasons in maybe two weekends.  As of right now, 3rd season is set to roll out starting weekly episodes in January. Hopefully the 3rd season is available on Hulu shortly after that.

I think you'll like it G.  Had me doing some research about Bumpy Johnson and that time period while I was watching.
