Goodin Needs To Be Great As We Turn To 'Jacket Weather'

Records: Woodford (7-0) | Collins (6-1)

BGP Ranking: Woodford (#2 in 5A)

Series History: Woodford leads 3-0 all-time

Table Setter: Shelbyville is under the microscope as it hosts one of the week's most intriguing matchups. Mr. Football hopeful Kenyon Goodin welcomes a stout Woodford County side as the last real hurdle between the Jackets and another district championship. WOFO has come out on the winning end every week this season, but have left something to be desired over the last three games, allowing Covington Catholic and Bowling Green to make up ground on them in the polls. With the Colonels and Purples both slated for huge contests this week, the men from Versailles need to be in seek and destroy mode from the opening kick. And even then, I'm not sure if they can keep CovCath and BG at bay much longer.

One advantage the Jackets have here, is they've already seen a talent comparable to Goodin this year. Fellow Mr. Football contender Jacob Jones lit up Woodford County for a half a couple of weeks ago. He was unable to sustain that level for four quarters, and West Jessamine got blown off the field in the second half. Goodin has to double Jones' effort, because WOFO has the personnel to engulf you in a hurry, as they did to the Titans last year. Goodin produced over 300 yards and three scores against the Jackets in 2021, but was relentlessly hounded by Woodford's defense and picked off twice in a running clock defeat.

Bump.

Mr. Football Spotlight Game

Goodin's biggest test of the season. He's fallen off the pace set by Jacob Jones and had an unexpected week off last week. WOFO sacked him several times last year and intercepted him twice.
