The (4-0) Broncos of Frederick Douglass make the less that 4 mike trip to take on the (2-2) Blue Devils of Henry Clay. This will mark only the 4th time the two schools have played. The schools last played on Sept. 20, 2019. Douglass is 3-0 all-time vs Henry Clay. Henry Clay is the only school in Lexington to play the Broncos to less than 10 points. In 2017 the Broncos beat the Blue Devils 14-7. Henry Clay is also the only city school to have not had a running clock from Douglass as well.

The Blue Devils are lead on offense by senior quarterback Blake VanHorn this season he has throw for 592 yards and 6 touchdowns. Senior running back Jacob Childress has rushed for 275 yards and sophomore WR Jackson Kreutzer 22 catches for 389 yards 3 touchdowns. On defense the Blue Devils are allowing 27 points per game.

The Broncos are coming into the game off a 54-7 win of PLD. Douglass running back TJ Horton scored 3 rushing touchdowns in the win and quarterback Cole Carpenter threw for 180 yards and a touchdown. The Bronco defense had another impressive game allowing only 3 net yards for the game, PLD had 30 passing yards and -27 yards rushing yards.

In Henry Clay's last two games they have allowed 323 and 344 yards rushing for them to have a chance to stay in the game vs Douglass they will have to cut those numbers way down and I just do not see that happening. I believe the Broncos will put a running clock on the Blue Devils. This game has the early kickoff since it is between two Lexington schools it is at 6:30pm and should be on the NFHS Network.

Don’t know who voted for HC in the poll but you must be smoking something good.  FD by 50.

Looks like Clay will actually suit up for this game after all! They should play. Historically,  they have consistently played Douglass the closest of the FCPS publics.

I just noticed something that I think really doesn't make sense. Last season Henry Clay was supposed to play at Frederick Douglass but Henry Clay canceled the game under the Covid Cancellation policy (this was the only game the  did cancel last season) so it seems strange to me that the game this year is at Henry Clay instead of back at Douglass so basically they lost a home game lasts season that was not returned this season, but it is what it is I guess.

Douglass has scored twice in the first quarter to lead 15-0 over Henry Clay at the end of the first quarter. The Broncos are driving again and are at the Blue Devils 14 yard line.

Another touchdown by the Broncos on a 3 yard run by TJ Horton the extra point is good with 10:02 left in the first half the Broncos lead 22-0.

Ty Bryant had a 45 yard interception for a touchdown called back for a block in the back. Douglass ball at 42 yard line.

Douglass gets another rushing touchdown by Horton this one from 14 yards the extra point is good with 6:24 left in the first half Douglass leads now 29-0.

Douglass scores again but the extra point is no good and with 3:56 left in the first half the Broncos lead 35-0.

Pick 6 by Isaiah Kenney 41-0

RC cola time .

Well that did not take long on the first play after the kickoff Isiah Kenny gets a 22 yard pick 6 the extra point is no good and with 3:06 we now have a running clock with the Broncos now leading 41-0.

Henry Clay has really the first positive play as the run the kickoff back 68 yards to start on the Broncos 24 yard line.

However with the running clock the Blue Devils can only run one play which was for a loss and now it is halftime.

Frederick Douglass 41

Henry Clay 0

Douglass scores again on their first possession of the 2nd half on a 54 yard pass from Carpenter to Tate Johnson the extra point is good and with 6:34 left in the 3rd quarter Douglass now leads 48-0.
