Corbin 83 Whitley County 62

Featured Replies

Although I agree Corbin did not play well, I think Whitley did have something to do with that. Getting in the passing lanes, causing some turnovers and in this meeting Whitley was able in stretches to meet the physicalness of Corbin and Whitley did not back down from it.

Corbin is still miles ahead but Whitley has improved tremdously. I heard Deaton say several times this season and when he took the job it was going to get worse before it got better, and he is not too worried about wins and losses this year. He showed that he can coach and his kids responded with a great effort. When they get some maturity they will be a decent basketball team.

Although Crawford for Corbin is obviously one of the best players in the region, I would say that without Hamblin, Corbin would struggle. He is a great floor leader and does a fantastic job getting the ball where it needs to be, and that is not always in the hands of Crawford. Corbin has a ton of guys who can score and that makes them tough, especially come tourny time.

Congrats to both teams on a good clean game, and good luck the rest of the season.

I also attended this game and yes Whitley did play better, and yes this may have been Corbins worst game all year. But congrats to the Colonels for a much improved team.

I was concerned about both teams starting lineups. For Corbin I figured the hounds would start Madison Johnson over Josh Smith,Madison is a great young player who can flat score on anyone at anytime, this really surprised me.

As for Whitley I was almost positive Ben Prewitt would start over Jared Roaden. Jared is a great defensive player but in my opinion I think I would rather have a talented guard like Prewitt or another guard like the Powers kid, in the recent games I have seen the Colonels play Zach has the potential to be a good player. He is and excellent shooter. Ben Prewitt may be one of the better ball handlers in the region. He has a nice shot on him to and can guard people well on a half court situation. This lineup also surprised the Ace last night @ Corbin High.

But O'well good luck to Hounds and the Colonels for the rest of this season.

I would agree with Prewitt over Roaden. Smith does alot of nice things for the Hounds. Johnson was not hitting last night. Corbin wins the next one by 30 plus.

I would have to say so ''Somerset Football'' .. I still think the 3 kids who are back to playing that was in the car wreck 1.Prewitt 2.Roaden and 3.Capps are still a little rough around the edges but overall they looked pretty good last night..Did you attend the game last night Bubba? It was a pretty good one to watch.

I listened to it on the radio. My sweetness had a women's auxillary meeting and I had to escort her to it, so I sat in the car and listened. She did bring me a nice piece of pie.

LeBanion and McCumbers were both football injuries that look to be back to almost Full Strength, but who knows with injuries.

Bubba you shouldve went it was a good one to watch until the later part of the 4th quarter when the Colonels got tired.

What do you think will happen in the district tournament will Whitley or Williamsburg be seeded #3, Im going to have to go with Whitley playing the Hounds 1'st Round just like last year. With the same outcome at the end.

I think Whitley and Williamsburg will have almost identical records. But you would have to think Whitley should beat WIlliamsburg at Whitley next week to give them the #3 seed. So, it probably play out the same as last year, but somehow, I think the Redhounds might be able to beat South Laurel sometime this year, just not sure when.

Very True Bubba, Very True..I agree with you on that one..when will Corbin and South meet again I would like to watch that one or will it have to be in the district tournament? Just curious on that one Bubba.

they play again at South before district tourney, as for Bubba's statement, you never know, but the Hounds need to improve some first, especially defesivley and the freshmen will have to continue to improve.

These nationally ranked teams south is playing and losing to will make the Cardinals only better and tougher to beat come tourney time.

I heard today at church that Lawson and Teague are gone for the season for Whitley. Although they have not played at all since the preseason, they could have really helped the Colonels. This will put a dent in their progress.

Wonder why Johnson was not hitting ,this was the worst game I have seen him play maybe not starting is getting to him and I agreen Smith does a lot also

I can't see not starting being a problem for Johnson. He is just a freshman and is playing plenty of minutes and is the second leading scorer on the team. He has improved his all-around game since the start of the season and seems to understand the game very well. I expect him to continue improving in all areas of the game as the season goes along, but freshman will have some ups and downs.

Corbin played a lot of basketball over the holidays and they have looked a little tired to me lately, so maybe a week off will be good for the Hounds.
