2022 Dirty Hat Classic

Featured Replies

The field is set for the 2nd Annual Dirty Hat Classic this weekend at the Florence Y'alls Ballpark.

• Two of "Kentucky Prep Baseball Reports"' Preseason Top 25, Cov Cath and Beechwood can be seen per the schedule below. Oak Hills, from the Greater Miami Conference is perennially one of Cincinnati's better teams. Coach Arlo's Conner Cougars are off to a 5-0 start too. Good, good ball to be seen in Florence.

Friday evening, April 1

4:15, Bellevue vs. Covington Holy Cross

6:00, Campbell Co. vs. Conner

8:15, St. Henry vs. Covington Catholic

Saturday morning, April 2

10:00, Beechwood vs. Cincinnati Oak Hills

• Proceeds from the tourney will benefit the Mike Epplen Philanthropic Fund. Over $13 k was raised through organization events last year.

• What a terrific way to remember one of Northern Kentucky's great sportsmen.

A couple of things:

1. Before I signed off last night I saw the score was 9-0, I thought that was the final score.  If I realized that the game would end 18-0, I would have probably held back from my comment.  That was not disingenuous but instead it was insensitive.  I am sure my counterpart buddies from Park Hills would have bit there lip if the shoe was on the other foot.

2. What personally concerns me with this outcome is "Holy Cow Cru", the tight win the Birds came away with against the Colonels is now diminished since it looks like St. Henry must be a team to be reckoned with.  Congrats to the Cru!!!

Surprising score, for sure. After a couple of weeks I would say Beechwood is the team to be reckoned with. They run ruled the Cru and did the same to a 4-0 Dixie team.
